Everyone settled in to watch some television. Rosalie sat back, while Elizabeth rested her head on her lap. Henry and Yasmin were cuddled up next to each other on the other couch, while Lee sat on the far end of it. Charlotte had taken a shower and was having a conversation with Kaitlyn in the kitchen, while they drank wine.
When Abbi came out of the bedroom, yawning and rubbing her eyes, Elizabeth immediately got up.
"Mama, I can't sleep," she walked over and got onto the couch with her mothers. Taking Elizabeth's place on Rosalie's lap, she curled into a ball, "mommy, tell me the story of when you and mama first kissed. It's the only story you know."
Rosalie smiled and ran her fingers through her daughter's hair. Elizabeth leaned against Rosalie's shoulder, as she took a deep breath.
Even though she was still a bit drunk, she was capable of telling the story that she'd told Abbi numerous times over the years.
Lee looked at them, feeling herself becoming irritated once again. She leaned back and closed her eyes, as Rosalie began the story.
"It was Henry's eighteenth birthday party. He looked so old, I thought he was forty," Abbi giggled, "everyone was swimming, and your aunt Zoe had on the tiniest bikini, I thought I was on baywatch." Thank god she's not here, I'd be getting teased for noticing her sexy body.
Abbi still didn't know what bay watch was. Kaitlyn and Charlotte stood by the door that connected the kitchen and living room, as they listened to the story too.
"Zoe's Rosalie's ex-girlfriend."
Kaitlyn whispered and Charlotte nodded.
"I was so upset, and I wanted to leave the party, and even your mama told me to leave," Rosalie said sadly, "I didn't want her to be upset with me, so I followed her into the kitchen."
Lee had never heard the story before. But she remembered that day. That was the day when Rosalie had taken off the engagement ring-Rosalie was upset because of her.
"Mommy, why were you upset?"
Rosalie smiled weakly, as she remembered the reason why.
"I'd just broken up with someone that I once loved very much." That seems so long ago.
Charlotte noticed Lee looking at them, tears falling from her eyes. She nudged Kaitlyn and directed her where to look.
"It's complicated."
Kaitlyn said with a sigh.
"But still it was one of the best days of my life. In the kitchen, your mama seemed so torn. I wanted to take away her pain. What I didn't know was that she wanted to make kissy faces."
Rosalie lightened the mood by tickling Abbi's sides. Looking up at Lee, her own emotions got the best of her. When Elizabeth noticed, her left eye began twitching again.
"Why were you torn, mama?"
Elizabeth looked at her daughter and swallowed. She felt her heart hurting.
"Because I really wanted to kiss your mommy, and that's exactly what I did."
She forced a smile, before getting up and wiping her eyes. Heading into the kitchen, Kaitlyn and Charlotte followed her over to the fridge. Elizabeth held onto the fridge so tightly that her knuckles became white.
"Honey, are you okay?"
Elizabeth shook her head, as tears trickled down her cheeks. She tried to calm herself down, but her breathing became even more heavy.
"You think she still loves her?"
Kaitlyn placed her hand on Elizabeth's shoulder. She'd never heard such insecure words leave her daughter-in-law's lips.
"No, I don't. I think that she loved her. But Rosalie loves you, Beth."
Elizabeth closed her eyes. Why am I so insecure? Fuck.
"I don't know why I'm feeling this way. I never ever feel this way. It's just because, because-"
Elizabeth panted for breath.
"When it comes to Lee, it's so much different. I get it."
"For god sakes, I was married to the woman. Why am I jealous of her? I'm so much better at everything and anything more than her. I know how to make Rosalie happy. I know the right things to say. I love her for her, not her beauty, or her money. God."
Kaitlyn pulled Elizabeth into her arms, and soothed her, rubbing her hand up and down her back.
"Don't worry so much. Rosalie knows that you're the better choice, we all do. You're just having an anxiety attack."
Charlotte loved how nurturing Kaitlyn was. She was confused about the situation, but picked up on pieces here and there.
Lee overhead the conversation, and felt her heart sink. That's what everyone really thought about her? She headed back into the living room, trying to control her own anger.
Rosalie took her daughter to bed, since she'd finally fallen asleep. When she entered the kitchen, her heart ached seeing her wife crying.
"Mum, what happened?" She pulled Elizabeth into her own arms, "Beth, please don't cry," she brushed Elizabeth's hair away from her face, "what's the matter?"
"I'm jealous."
Elizabeth whispered, knowing that she might have been overreacting. Who cried because of jealousy?
"Of what, babe?"
Rosalie caressed Elizabeth's cheek with the pad of her thumb.
"You and her. The way you looked at her just now. Do you still-"
Elizabeth choked up.
"No. I don't. I really don't. I love you; only you," Kaitlyn and Charlotte headed out of the kitchen to give them some privacy. Elizabeth nodded, but Rosalie wanted to make her understand. Leading her over to a chair, she sat down and directed Elizabeth to sit on her lap, "look at me," Rosalie whispered, "we both once loved her, but now we love each other."
Elizabeth nodded again.
"You don't have any feelings for her?"
"No. I'm only in love with you. My heart is yours; only yours."
Elizabeth smiled, appreciating the reassurance so much.
"I've never felt this way before."
She whispered, as Rosalie entwined their fingers. Her cheeks were pink, and her lips were still quivering.
"It's kinda hot. I've waited years to see the jealous side of you."
Rosalie admitted with a grin, causing Elizabeth to smack her arm.
"I hate it. I feel like an idiot."
"Well, you're my idiot, babe. Mine and mine only. And I'm yours, yours only, forever and ever," Rosalie knew that she didn't have any feelings for Lee anymore, and also knew that Elizabeth felt the same, "I proposed to you after like two months, that's got to say something, right?"
Elizabeth giggled, nodding.
"I love you so much. Never cheat on me or leave me for someone else, okay?"
Rosalie nodded seriously.
"Same goes for you, Miss Harper. I love you more than anything in this world."
Kaitlyn smiled, as she overheard her daughters laughter. She knew that nothing could tear them apart, not even a pesky ex who was invading on their holiday.
