"IS IT JUST me, or are those guys checking us out?" Rosalie leaned the beer bottle against her lips, "they seem really interested in you, mum."
Kaitlyn scoffed. She knew better than to think that they were giving her eyes when her beautiful daughter sat right next to her.
"Yeah, sure. I wouldn't fuck any of them."
Rosalie laughed, as she traced her index finger over the rim of her shot glass. They shouldn't have been mixing drinks, but the bar had finally gotten some good wine even.
"You think it's a good idea to move here?"
Kaitlyn shrugged. It wasn't the worst idea in the world. They'd be closer to everyone, and also could always travel back to Milan to visit their friends there.
"For Elizabeth, it's a whole new world for her. And change is good. Abbi could use some change. You'll all be much closer to family, so don't be annoyed when they pop up randomly at your house."
Rosalie sighed. She loved the town already. Even though there might have been issues here and there, everywhere had their flaws. And Elizabeth seemed so happy than how she was back in Milan.
"How much did you give him?"
Kaitlyn became confused, but realized what her daughter was referring to within a few seconds.
"Exactly what he asked for."
She answered, causing Rosalie to down a shot and wipe her lips with the back of her palm.
"I know he's only going to visit because you basically bribed him. I'm not that stupid, mum," Kaitlyn sighed and nodded. Dammit, I should have never told her that he asked for money, "I don't expect him to be anything that I know he can't be. But it would be nice for Abbi to see her grandfather at least once. And I'd like to see him too. It's not under the best circumstance, but if he dies tomorrow, I'd have regrets that I don't want."
Kaitlyn nodded in understanding. That makes sense.
"Honey, you know I love you, right? Just because he-"
"He doesn't really like me?"
Rosalie popped a pretzel into her mouth and sipped her wine. There were three different drinks in front of her, and she was indulging in all.
"Honey-"
"It's okay, mum. I don't need him to love me. Sure, it hurts like a bitch sometimes. But I have to move on and live my life. I have a wife, two kids, and you," Rosalie looked at her mother with a smile, "you've always been here for me, so thank you."
"It's what I do," Kaitlyn smiled and placed her hand over her daughter's, "I'll always be here. I promise."
Rosalie didn't realize that she needed to hear that until those words were said. She began to tear up. Maybe it was the excessive use of alcohol or the hole in her heart, but she was ready to leave the bar, and head home to her wonderful wife. But they had to pick Henry and Yasmin up first.
