The girls on fire. That's what they called them.
Everyone knew them, everyone admired them.
On one night, they threw the biggest party.
The best night of the year, according to some people.
On that same night, the four girls pulled pranks every...
Bad men always find a way to get out of their miserable life. He did it. I won't let it happen again. Or at least, he'll learn his fucking lesson. Mr. Gitten doesn't know what's coming to him. Mila already took down a rapist tonight. I am going to take down a pervert. A pedophile, someone who deserves to die.
''Addy, are you sure it's a good idea?'' Mila is always the one to be the good person in the group. Not, it is not a good idea. The court wouldn't do anything. If it takes this to take him down, I am willing to do anything to stop him.
''Aren't we supposed to do what we want?'' I snap, opening the door and slamming it behind me. I expect them to stay in the car but they do not. They all get out and my heart warms. Even if they don't agree with what I am about to do, they are always here. They will always support me.
''What do you have in mind?'' Quinn asks. I stand in front of his house, my feet glued to the ground. There's one car, his. I made sure he was the only one here tonight. We are still all wearing our masks and we are not taking them off. Even though I want to show him my face, I can not. He'll figure out who I am soon enough. If he's not as stupid as he looks.
''You guys stay here, I'll handle it'' I order them, walking to his front door. I feel my lungs with air before knocking. That's when I feel a hand on my shoulder.
Quinn.
I smile, even though she can't see. I am tired of men always getting away with what they do. Everyone I know, not a single woman I know has not been abused by men. If I can stop one of them, I'll bring anything I have and destroy him. This is war. I see things that nobody else sees.
As soon as he opens his door, I see his eyes. He's looking us up and down. That bastard. From our masks, he knows we're the girls on fire. However, he's still looking at our breasts, stomachs, and legs. This piece of shit is going to get what he deserves.
I take a step into the house, Quinn following me. I hear the door close and I know, Mila and Elsie have joined us. I keep my eyes on him. I thought he would be freaked out by now but I see the hunger in his eyes. He's excited. Sick asshole.
''What did I do to earn this visit?'' he asks, taking a step towards me. Oh, he's going to regret that. I push him and Quinn catches my wrist but I still manage to hit his jaw. He crumbles to the floor and I kick him to his side.
''How many kids have you abused?'' I scream. He blinks his eyes open.
''I don't know what you-''
''Fuck you!'' I yell and kick him, again. I don't stop until all that rage I had built up inside me is gone. I could be arrested for this, so could the girls. The police never cared and they never will. If we want justice, we need to do it by ourselves. They will never do it for us. When you think about it, when you do something illegal, it isn't illegal if you do not get caught. And we will never, ever get caught.
''Take him outside'' I say before sniffling. I stare at him, his grunting filling the room.
''Take him!'' I yell turning to the girls. Elsie flinches and she is quick to take Mr. Gitten's arm dragging him out of the house. Mila helps her and Quinn stays with me. I laugh as I walk around his house. The walls are filled with pictures of his happy family. I see a little boy on them and my heart breaks. Is he abusing his son as well? At least now, he'll lose every fucking thing he ever had.
I pull out the lighter in my pocket and I can see Quinn's eyes widening. She walks to the kitchen and when she comes back with gas, I smile. I was going to let the lighter fall on the floor but the fire would have never lit. Quinn soaks the drapes, the couches, the floor with gas. She throws the empty bottle at the window and turns to me. She walks to me, takes my hand in hers.
''Together'' she whispers. I giggle and let the lighter fall to the floor. She pulls me away from the fire and we stop in the doorway. I am in awe as I watch the flames. This is the first time I do something so out of line. Elsie did this once but it wasn't a house she set on fire. It's, I don't know. I feel alive. I guess I had to go all-in since it's our last.
''Guys! We need to go, now!'' Mila is already in the driver's seat. I watch Mr. Gitten on the ground and I spit on him.
''That's for my sister, '' I laugh as I run to my car. Quinn follows me and once we are in, Mila gets us out of here. The cops are on their way. Lucky us, we only have one prank left. Elsie's.
''Are you okay?'' Quinn asks and I chuckle in her face until I cough. I guess I shouldn't have stayed that long into the house. At least I avenged my little sister. I know it won't be easy as she grows up but I'll always be there for her. She'll always have me.
''I am fine!'' I shout over the music. My eyes are watering and I am thankful to have my mask on. He didn't abuse me. But the way he looked at us, made me feel violated. I am glad he lost everything he had. I am also thankful I called and made his wife and son go to Thunder Bay. I don't know what I would have done if they would have been there.
''Elsie, where are we going?'' Mila asks as we rush past the cops. We all gasp as we see them following us but Mila knows this town better than anyone else. She would never let us go to jail. We are untraceable.
''Hunter-Bailey'' Elsie's voice is suddenly cold. We all know who is at Hunter-Bailey. This will be a hard one, but we love a challenge. After all, she always comes up with the best revenge. I don't know why people think these are pranks because what we do is out of revenge. That's all it really is about. We do it together, we're there for each other and at the end of the night, we feel alive. It's the best thing I could have ever wished for.
''I am Allie tonight'' Elsie sighs and I want to take my damn mask off. I need to breathe. The night is still not over. We need to get this over with so we can go to Derek's party after. The good thing about all of this is that they heard about the party. The police didn't go because of us. They'll track us, all night. Little do they know, they already lost us.
''Mila got those headsets?'' Elsie asks. We are a part of her plan and I can't wait to see her. Fire's night runs in her veins. She should let it take over more often.
''Of course, I do'' Mila takes another turn and she kills the radio. Quinn protests but Elsie is quick to hush her.
''If they are not impressed yet, they'll be impressed now'' Elsie mumbles. Who is she talking about? They? Who are they? I search in the back of my mind, trying to figure out her riddle. And it hits me.
Oh no.
The four horsemen.
