"So, this is your room?" Ivy's voice takes me out of my trance, and I see her standing awkwardly by the door.

"Yep," I sigh. "This is my room." She walks in, accessing the various posters I have on my walls, and finally making her way beside me on the bed.

"I didn't know you liked music this much..." I shrug, kinda laughing at the statement.

"It's a lost cause. Like my mom said, I'm helping with the family business." I stare at the ceiling now, watching the plain white like I used to when I was young.

I stare, and stare, unable to find words to continue this conversation, replays of times in my life I don't wanna go back to.

"Stop with this music stuff, Aaron. This is why you didn't become valedictorian."

"Just let me try, mom," I beg at the dinner table.

"Absolutely not. You're going to college." My dad interrupts, and ends the conversation before it's truly even begun.

And after a few minutes of awkward silence, I realise that Ivy clearly has something to say. "What is it?" I ask, turning to face her.

"I don't know. It feels like you haven't told me anything about yourself..."
