"Hm, and your family? What do they do?" Aaron grabs my hand underneath the table, warm, reassuring, familiar.
"My mom's a nurse..."
"And your dad?" My heart races at his mention, my thoughts rampant.
"She hasn't been in contact with him," Aaron answers for me. And the rest of the dinner goes surprisingly smooth. I don't learn much of anything about the Kristensen's, but I still have the next few days for that.
"See, it wasn't horrible," I say as Aaron leads me to his room. He shrugs, not necessarily agreeing.
"It was pretty horrible." I shake my head, stepping in front of him, and making him look at me.
"I'm at your house for the first time, so instead of being so negative..." I grab his hand, "Show me around." I open the door to his bedroom.
Posters upon posters of 90's pop-punk bands, guitars, a piano, I feel like I'm seeing a whole new side to Aaron's personality.
He goes to lay on his bed, zoned out, and almost unaware that I'm still standing by the door. And as I walk around, I get a sinking feeling that I know nothing about my own boyfriend, or worse, he doesn't want to tell me.
