Finding You Part 4, Chapter 20
— At Skye/Lorenzo — Skye went into her room, which she shares with Lorenzo, after putting the children to bed. She changed into her pajamas, lay on the bed, and cried as she touched the side of the bed where Lorenzo had been lying. "Oh, Lorenzo," Skye said. Genevieve was in the hallway and peeked into her parents' room, seeing her mother crying as Skye looked at her. "Genevieve," Skye said. Genevieve came in. "Why are you up?" Skye asked. "To get some water," Genevieve said. "Come lie with me," Skye said. "Why?" Genevieve asked. "Just please," Skye said. Genevieve lay down on the bed. "Mother, why are you crying?" Genevieve asked. "I'm just glad your father is going to be fine. I love him," Skye said. "What does it feel like?" Genevieve asked. "What?" Skye asked. "Love," Genevieve asked. "It feels wonderful—you do anything to make that person happy and keep them in your life. I love your father that much. I had other loves, but your father loves me for who I am and doesn't want to change me. He feels the same way," Skye said. "Oh," Genevieve said. Skye touched Genevieve's hair. "Is that how you feel toward Alexander?" Skye asked. "I like being with Alexander. He's smart, just like me. We can talk about anything, and I like the way he kisses me," Genevieve said. "He kiss you?" Skye asked. "Yes, at the movies. On the lips," Genevieve said. "Did you like it?" Skye asked. "Yes, I did. Mother, I lied to Daddy," Genevieve said. "About what?" Skye asked. "The day I was sleeping and calling Alexander's name in my sleep," Genevieve said. "What was the dream about?" Skye asked. "We were doing what you and Daddy do in bed. I'm sorry I lied, but I didn't want to get in trouble," Genevieve said. "You're not in trouble. It's okay to have those feelings, but you're way too young for that," Skye said. "I know. I will wait till I'm older," Genevieve said. "Good. Are you glad your father is alright?" Skye asked. "Yes, Mother," Genevieve said. "You're lucky to have a father in your life who will do anything for this family," Skye said. "You have a father, too," Genevieve said. "Yes, but I wasn't raised by Alan or Rae," Skye said. "Oh, who raised you?" Genevieve asked. "A woman who had no right to me and hurt me," Skye said. "I'm sorry you were hurt," Genevieve said. "Thanks. That's why I want to give you and your brother and sisters the best life possible. Your father feels the same way," Skye said. "It's not always the best," Genevieve said. "What do you mean by that?" Skye asked. "The bodyguards," Genevieve said. "I know it's a pain, but it's to keep you safe. Now, let's get some sleep," Skye said. "Alright," Genevieve said, getting out of bed. "Genevieve, stay with me," Skye said. "Why? I'm not scared tonight," Genevieve said. "I just don't want to be alone," Skye said. "But," Genevieve said. "Genevieve, please," Skye said. "Alright. I'll give you points for this," Genevieve said and she went into bed with her mother.
