Finding You, Part 4, Chapter 7 — At Skye and Lorenzo's
After a fun day watching movies and eating pizza with their daughters, it was finally time for bed. Genevieve was in her room getting ready, still a little startled when Skye came in. "Genevieve," Skye said as she approached from behind, causing Genevieve to jump. "Sweetheart, it's me," Skie explained. Genevieve turned around. "I thought you were the killer," she said. "No, sweetheart, it's just me. No one is coming for you; it's safe here," Skye reassured her. She took Genevieve's hand, helped her into bed, and covered her up. "Are you sure?" Genevieve asked. "Yes, all the doors are locked, and the guards are outside," Skye replied. "Okay, I hate that Lila Rae did this to me," Genevieve said. "It's okay to be scared, but you're safe," Skye said. "You promise?" Genevieve asked. "Yes," Skye confirmed. "I hope we have school tomorrow," Genevieve said. "I know. Did you have a fun day?" Skye asked. "Kinda," Genevieve replied. "Good. Well, goodnight," Skye said, kissing Genevieve. She turned off the light and left. Genevieve then opened her nightstand drawer, pulled out a flashlight, and turned it on.
In Lorenzo and Skye's room, Lorenzo was on the phone when Skye entered and he hung up. "Are the girls in bed?" Lorenzo asked. "Yes, Genevieve is still scared from that movie," Skye said. "I'm surprised she's scared," Lorenzo responded. "Me too. I should ground Lila Rae for putting that movie on; she knows better," Skye added. "Yes, she does," Lorenzo agreed. "I need my husband," Skye said, and they shared a kiss before Lorenzo laid Skye on the bed.
Genevieve was lying in her bed, eyes wide open, when she heard a noise that startled her. She jumped out of bed and ran into the hallway to her parents' room, which was about to make love. "Mother! Daddy! There is someone in the house!" she yelled, causing Skye to cover up as Lorenzo stepped away. "Genevieve, no one is here," Lorenzo assured her. "Sorry to interrupt your making love, but I heard someone," Genevieve said. "The doors are locked; I will go check, but it's nothing," Lorenzo said. "There's someone out there," Genevieve insisted as she sat on her bed. Skye took her into her arms, while Lorenzo left the room. "Genevieve, there is no one out there, I promise. Your father isn't going to let anyone come in," Skye said, getting up. "Mother, where are you going?" Genevieve asked. "To get you some water," Skye replied. She went into the bathroom, and the wind hitting the window made Genevieve jump. "Mother! Someone is trying to come in!" she yelled. Skye returned with a glass of water. "Here, take this," she said. "What is it?" Genevieve asked. "Just a vitamin to help you sleep," Skye explained. "Is it safe?" Genevieve asked. "Yes, just take it," Skye reassured her. Genevieve took the vitamin and drank the water, attempting to sleep. "This isn't going to be good," Lorenzo said. "No, I don't think we'll sleep tonight," Skye agreed.
Later that night, in Skye and Lorenzo's bedroom, Genevieve was sleeping in the middle when she woke up after hearing a noise. "Did you hear that? Someone is coming in," she said, waking her parents. "Genevieve, look at me," Lorenzo said as she looked at him. "There's no way anyone can come in this house; the guards are outside, and there are bars on the windows," Lorenzo added. "I heard something," Genevieve insisted. "It's just your mind playing tricks. You need to think of something else," Skye suggested. "Your mother is right. Remember last summer when we found that dog?" Lorenzo asked. "Yes, it was fun to have him here, but Mother wouldn't let us keep him," Genevieve said. "No, she wouldn't," Lorenzo agreed. "I'm allergic to dogs," Skye said. "No, you're not," Genevieve said. "Why do you say that?" Skye asked. "Grandfather told me that. He's your dad; he would know," Genevieve explained. "Well, I'm—" Skye started. "I wish we could have kept him. When I move out, I'm getting more than one dog," Genevieve yawned. "Okay, think about that tomorrow as you sleep," Skye said. Genevieve closed her eyes. "What time is it?" Skye asked. "Four in the morning," Lorenzo answered. "I hope there's no school today. She's going to be so tired," Skye said. "I know," Lorenzo replied. "I'm glad she needs us," Skye added. "Me too," Lorenzo agreed.
