Chapter 45

Sirius

Time was going by fast.

Everything was well and everyone was genuinely... happy. Remus and Klara were happily together and Sam and I went on a few double dates with them. It was fun and normal. Which we all appreciated in different ways.

Sam and I were getting closer and getting to know each other in a romantic way. It was surprisingly easy and natural. I truly believe we were meant to be. My family as insane as they are were writing nonstop about her visiting again for Easter.

It was driving me mad.

In a good way a of course.

Well it was the day before Easter and Sassy and I were just arriving at my home. Severus stood behind this time which I knew made Sassy a little nervous. Regulus however joined us which helped out a bit.

As we made our way into the apartment, we were instantly greeted by Kreacher.

"Evening masters; Miss Snape. Mrs and Mr Black are awaiting in the dining room," he said lowering his head in respect.

"Thank you Kreacher," Regulus nodded and I smiled at Kreacher.

"Thank you. Nice seeing you Kreacher,"Sassy replied sweetly.

Sassy gripped onto my arm tighter as we followed Regulus down the hall. Once we entered the dining hall mother and father jumped to their feet.

"Oh my boys! Hello darlings," mom smiled approaching Regulus quickly. She cupped his face and gave him an affectionate kiss on the cheek. "You look well."

"Thank you Mother, as do you," Regulus said. Mother released him as Regulus went over to free father. Once Mother's eyes met mine they continued to brighten.

I will never get used to her looking at me this way.

"Sirius. My boy you look great," she smiled bringing me into a hug. I wrapped a careful arm around her and smiled. "School is well I expect?"

"Passing grades. Staying out of trouble," I replied releasing her. "You look lovely mother."

"Thank you darling- now speaking of lovely!" Mom said turning to Sassy. She grabbed her hands and smiled widely. "You are a vision. I'm so happy you're joining us."

"Thank you for having me! If you need any help preparing for the dinner tomorrow I am more than delighted to assist," Sam replied and mother smiled widely.

"Oh- I would love that. The boys are useless truly," mother joked.

"Aren't men usually?" Sassy scoffed playfully.

"Tell me about school," mother said carrying on into conversation with Sam.

All I could do is stare in absolute shock.

"Son will you have a word for a moment?"

I turned around to see father calling to my attention and I nodded. I looked back at Sam who gave me a reassuring smile before walking towards the kitchens with my mother. I approached father and realized Regulus was standing against the wall in silence.
