Chapter 29

Regulus

I can hear shouts of greetings come from downstairs and I sighed. They're here. I looked myself in the mirror once more taking in what I was wearing. I was in a full black traditional suit with a white button up. My tie was black and so were my shoes. My hair was in perfect tamed curls and I took in a deep breath.

Let's go.

I walked out of my bedroom and I saw Sirius was also leaving his. He looked over at me and I waited for him to walk down together.

"You alright?" I asked.

"Funny," he replied and I smirked at the response.

"At least Klara will be here," I reminded.

"She probably won't even acknowledge me," he frowned.

"Yea she will. She's not like that," I reassured.

"Then how come you are?" He asked meeting my stare and I clenched my jaw.

"I value peace Sirius. Sometimes shutting up and going along with everything is the only option."

"Or the easiest. I genuinely hope one day you'll find your own way rather than what they want for you," Sirius said before we signaled to begin walking.

I swallowed hard but nonetheless raised my head high and walked alongside him. We made our way down the stairs and turned to go to the dining area. Once we entered the room, we were met with big smiles from the Malfoys minus the father. Klara was in a floor length light grey dress and her hair was pinned into a neat bow. She had hardly any makeup- not that she needed any- and had small family jewelry on.

She looked exquisite.

She turned to face us and she walked over smiling wide. She was about to raise her hands for a hug but Sirius quickly shook his head catching her mistake. She came to realization almost immediately and bowed her head at us. I grabbed her hand bowing my head and planted a kiss on her knuckles lightly.

"Hi," I whispered and she smiled as I released her.

"Regulus," she greeted and Sirius took her hand and did the same earning a choked laugh from her. "I will hold this against you."

"Shut it," Sirius whispered but was attempting to hide his smile.

I offered my arm to her and she grabbed my elbow as I led her to a seat. Her mother realized Sirius and I had entered the room and she beamed.

"Oh how handsome you two are! It is a pleasure," Mrs.Malfoy smiled as I settled Klara into her chair.

"It is an honor to finally meet your acquaintance," I greeted bowing my head at her.

"Oh honey we'll be family soon! Where is Druella and Cygnus?" She asked turning to my parents.

"Oh they should be here-"

We were interrupted with a sound coming from the floo and mother clapped her hands.

"Right about now," she smiled.
