Shuri's leg tapped against the wooden floor. It was polished, clearly well taken care of wood. The whole house was just as cared for. The maids seemed to even love it there. The one woman living here, lived like a Queen. She had more than reasonable income, with a beautiful estate. Fox ornaments and paintings decorate the house.

But that only supported Shuri's findings, why she was really here. Why the Queen of Wakanda was waiting at an overly expensive dining room table, she needed help. Rather she needed who helped the woman become this high class citizen. This family had been in high standing for the last 150 years, all of a sudden rising from a barely livable stance.

That's when the stories started. A woman with three children was left alone in poverty, as her husband fought in the country's war. She soon found out her husband had an affair while in recruitment, she was devastated. All she had left was her small piece of land in the woods. Until one day she found a fox, leg caught in a trap from the neighboring hunters. The mother and her kids eagerly released the fox, bringing them back to their decaying house.

Though they had barely enough to feed themselves, they cared for the fox. The fox suddenly emerged into a beautiful woman, dawning tails and fluffy ears. She thanked them for their deeds, and promised them good fortune for decades to come.

Now Shuri waited for the last living relative of the family, gazing at the painting of the 9 tailed woman fabled in the tale. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long." Shuri turned to the old woman stepping down the stairs. "Don't worry about it. Let me help you." Shuri joins her side, helping her down the last few steps to the table. "Would you like some dumplings? I believe Sophie just made some." She asks, "I would love some." Shuri smiles lightly.

This reminded her of Wakanda. A girl walked in with a tray, "Fresh, I boiled them just how you like them, Peasley." The two begin to dig into the buns, "This is amazing, is it a family recipe?" Shuri asked, "My grandmother's grandmother's. Never found a person who didn't love it." The woman said, taking another bite. "I can't imagine."

"So, should I ask what got the infamous Queen of Wakanda to my doorstep? Or should I skip to the Foxy part?" She knew why Shuri was here, many had come to her doorstep looking for the same answers. But this time it was different, she was a black Panther. Not that she worried the Kitsune wouldn't be able to defend herself.
"Your family's story, I assume you believe it?" She laughed,"I'd hope so, my mother would've found a way to smack me from the afterlife if I didn't."

"She's a Kitsune. I hear they're rare." Shuri began, Peasley frowned."The last of her kind." Shuri tussled in her seat, how was she so sure the same Kitsune was still around? But the setting of the Peasley assured her doubts. "Is it true her illusions are indistinguishable from reality? That she could breathe without any atmosphere?" The old woman cackled,"You sound like me when I was your age. Yes, once she had sent me into the Amazon rainforest in that living room." Shuri glanced behind her, "She is still around?"

"Of course. I can't even imagine how realistic her illusions are now, after all these years. Kitsunes grow more powerful with age. Every time I'd see her she'd have a new tail." Peasley explained, "Now, she loved the ocean. Rivers, anything she could dive into. She said it would tick the daylights out of her sisters, it was so strange because the others all hated getting wet. I don't suppose you've seen the temple yet?"

The two pass the many fox lanterns paving the way to a shining temple in the neatly cut bush. A tiled river surrounded the structure, gold and lapis edged into its bricks. "Me and my brother used to have breath holding contests with her. She could stay under for hours. Only years later did I find out she didn't even need to breathe." Shuri laughs lightly, as they walk into the temple. "She has helped our family through the generations, with gifts, gold, but what really mattered was her visits. She would always glow up when she saw us."
