It had only been a week of Loki's imprisonment and he was already sick of it. He read every single book in the stack his mother gave him Monday and studied every stone in the wall, every glistening in the bars. The voices of the guards, their routes. It was perfectly planned to keep Loki in. It was almost indescribable how frustrating it was to him. The rage in his form felt overwhelming like it'd consume him whole if he didn't do something about it. Ripped books, destroyed chairs- it wasn't enough. He was alone, upset- and afraid.

Of what his mother thought, of what his life had become, that his brother might never truly forgive him. Afraid of living in absolute silence for the rest of his immortal life. Not a single word was spoken by the guards, who were heavily trained to deal with tricksters like Loki. Specifically Loki. But something was changing, there was someone new. He heard the guards chatter, his superior guard was retiring, and expected his daughter to replace him. It wasn't until the father complained about her rejection of the promotion- that he finally blinked. This could be it- they throw some rookie in and he plays them like the fiddle they were.

His hope felt lost in the sound of footsteps, echoing down the steep steps. It was obvious by the stomping who it was. "Brother." Loki ignored his words with a sigh. "Here to lament on the family's mistakes brother?" He let out a dry laugh, an ache shaking his throat. Now it was Thor's turn to sigh, "You are never leaving this cell, Loki. Mother- wanted me to bring you these." Thor slid the large stack of books through the golden wall. He looked as if he wanted to say something to Loki as if he just wanted to beg him, apologize, and scream all at once. But nothing came out. "Goodbye, Loki."

His fists clenched, who did Thor think he was, he only had this cell left and he had to ruin that for him too. His hands found their way to the books once again, ripping and tearing, throwing and screaming till his throat was raw. Till everyone knew how upset he was. But no one listened, did they? As the poor prince wailed, through the night.

"Valak sent you, correct?" "Yes." "That hadn't been an easy task- with a hard head like his. Now how did you get him to say the word- I wonder." Loki's cracked eyes began to falter again, his body felt limp from the night before. But it's what he heard before that made him rush up, a new personal guard. Or rather, a new toy. One with a voice as soothing as his mother's, one he hadn't heard in days, feeling much more like years. Not only that but under-trained by the sound of it. This was going to be easy, his life wasn't over, and the fight wasn't done being fought. "He was so disappointed when Waddie didn't take the responsibility." He heard the guard click her tongue, "She's happy now. And now you've got a guard. It all worked out in the end- didn't it?" This is what intrigued him even more, no one had stood up to the lead officer in his time here- or even before it.

She was a tough woman, and it seemed Y/n wasn't a bit scared, not at all. "We'll see." "Sure." "don't speak a word to him, not even a glance. Food at sunset. You may leave-" She looks at the open light in the prison, "I can stay the night." The woman cackles,"Oh would you hear that guys? She can stay the night! On her first day." A few other Guards turn to the new recruit."Oh, these guys are going to eat you alive. You know what ought to happen at night, Missy?" Y/n doesn't falter, "I hope your hearing isn't too sharp." The woman passes, Loki listens to her footsteps fading into the abyss of the prison.Or rather, his home."She's quite the charmer isn't she?" Loki said, throat still aching from the night before. Y/n hums, "Didn't you hear? No talking." She said, leaning on his prison's edge, just in the right spot, so he couldn't see her.

This was going to be tricky, but he was sure he could handle it. "And you really followed her other terms, right?" "She's boring. Her terms are more boring." Loki smirks, "Well if you're looking for entertainment- you've come to the wrong place." "Oh, so you're boring too then?" He was beginning to like the conversation, sitting up against the golden bars.
