Death was her occupation, her floor- walls and kitchen. Y/n was the light in its room, guiding unfortunate souls to their bedrooms. And she had been for thousands of years. She waited for her own light to dim, to run out, but it never happened. She'd be like this for the rest of time. She knew she wouldn't die, grow old, no knife would penetrate her. Maybe this was the only option, until now.

"I'm.. Quitting." Her voice was frail, almost as she was. Her midgardian clothing didn't hide it. "What?" The 10 foot man turned, showing his jackal head. He smirked, "You can't quit- my little pup." He waved his finger, "Who will watch me? Assure that I won't become distracted again?" Y/n tried to raise her chin, "I don't care." "Take that ridiculous mirage off, you look like a fool." He crossed his arms. Like most Egyptian gods- she was... Half blooded. And though Anubis had been given the likeliness of a Jackal- Y/n was given a wolf.

But now, she had her midgardian disguise on. No fluffy ears, scary eyes, inky markings- just a frail girl. Almost like before this whole mess. "They'll seal you away." She said, "And you? They won't do the same?" Anubis cackled, before sitting in his throne. "They've always just adored you anyways." It was true, the other gods had a distaste for her. She wasn't born a God, nor asked for the position. She was human once, it's what made her different from the rest of them. "Rather quiet now, aren't we?" Y/n cringed, "Fine. I'll be done with this all either way."

"You're delusional." He stepped up, swiftly throwing her against the walls of his temple. He had an expression of disappointment, if you could find anything past his aloof face. A light began to glow between his claws, she threw him back against the side of the shrine. Now she had her claws, her ears, and a rather large set of jaws. "You're a monster." She held her arm over his throat, "No, We're.. Monsters."

"This water tastes a bit strange Jane, possibly your river is polluted." Thor raised his glass, "Its beer, Thor." She walked in, welcoming the other Avengers into her apartment. "Ah, a child's portion. I assure you I can handle the usual." Jane shook her head, "A human's portion. Anyway- could you all.. Not have met somewhere else?" She held her glass, gazing at the heroes sprawled across her living room. "Nah, I think this is great." Darcy swiped her phone out, "Wait till tomorrow." Jane whispered.

"We're sorry about this- we just need Thor to-" "I dunno look after his psycho brother?" Tony shoved Loki towards the two. "Yes brother- you left your terribly villainous brother alone with defenseless puny midgardians- what will they do without you?" He tilted his head with a smirk. "Oh, I assure you I was not leaving my duties. Our father has placed a dim light over Loki. No mind controlling abilities will peek through this time." Natasha smiled, "Oh I feel great then." Just as Thor looked at her the fake smile on her lips fell.

"Look- for this arrangement to work, we need one member of the team watching him at a time. Even during his sessions." Steve said, "Sessions? What are you, converting him?" Thor shook his head, "Do not-" "Of course not- your human therapy has been quite useful for misguided souls in the past." Darcy laughed, "Therapy- you sent the guy who invaded Earth to therapy?" "It.. Could be beneficial." Jane said silently, and just as Loki began to growl the back door slammed open.

The storm from outside began to shovel in through the door. "Shit. Y/n?" The Avengers all had a pinky on their chosen weapons, before Jane had announced she knew the intruder. All except Natasha, who kept her blade close regardless. Loki turned to the hallway, hands still clenched from earlier.

Her usually fluffy hair was dripping wet, along with the rest of her dark clothes. She looked much too sickly for a midgardian, a healthy one at least. "Oh my god- are you okay?" Jane rushed over to the woman, "You're soaked! Darcy, go get a towel!" "On it! I'll get the good ones." Y/n stepped back before shaking off her hair- almost like a dog would. Jane wiped the water off herself from the shake. "Sorry." Y/n spoke up,"Oh my god- your neck-!" Y/n quickly covered it, "I'm fine. I just have to-" "Jane, you need to stop saying 'oh my God' in a room with two gods." Darcy walked in,"Ooh- got a hickey or something?" She handed Y/n the towel. The room looked at Darcy, before Steve asked Y/n if she was alright. "This is a good neighborhood, did someone sneak onto campus?" Natasha asked, "No- don't worry about It, it'll probably be gone by tomorrow."
