CHAPTER THIRTEEN !

.*

SO MUCH HAD HAPPENED. lori had died during the birth of her child, a beautiful baby girl. t-dog died by a walker bite, and surrendering himself to more walkers to save carol. carol then went missing. everyone assumed she also got killed by the walkers as daryl found her bandana on the floor, covered in blood. rick hadn't even glanced one look at his daughter yet, instead, mourning the loss of his wife. he hadn't even been to look at her. the baby had no food, due to lori dead and no breast milk, so daryl and maggie had gone on a run to find some.

estella held the baby, and she thought she was adorable. issy was so happy with her sister, but depressed about her mom. she hadn't said a word to anybody. she just sat in the corner. beth had stepped up to plate, rocking and holding the baby.

the younger frowned, walking over to her. "are you okay?"

"what do you think?" isabella spat, angrily. estella didn't take it personally. her mom had just died, and she was hurting.

"yeah, stupid question. i'm sorry you had to go through that." estella said, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "but you have a beautiful baby sister, now. she's so cute."

"yeah, she's cute. i just... i don't know her like i know my mom, you know? it sounds selfish, but if i had to save one, it would've been my mom." isabella said, a small tear falling.

"i understand." estella replied, "i'm sure you'll grow to love the baby just like you love your momma. you'll be like her mom growing up, so you'll have to love her eventually."

isabella sadly laughed. "i already love her, stella, that's not what i meant. i love her, but i love my mom. i know you don't understand, but i just mean that i spent my whole life with my mom, and she sacrificed her life for a baby that we don't know. now, this baby is gonna have to grow up without a mom, and i feel selfish because i grew up with a mom, and she isn't gonna have the same experiences with her as i got."

"i'm sure you can tell her stories." she said back.

"stories aren't the same thing. but, i know. i can tell her all the stories i know about how great our mom was." she smiled.

"yeah, and you can tell her that maggie delivered her in a random prison. that's crazy." she said, making isabella laugh.

"that's true." her best friend smiled, estella just gave her a comforting side hug, and walked over to beth.

beth was in the corner, folding up some of the baby's clothes that they'd already got on a couple previous runs. she was putting them neatly on top of a table next to the window. she was piling up the dipers and wipes, and some of the bottles.
