Daryl had killed beta, and agreed to let lydia stay with them. he and estella hadn't spoken, like at all. she went to hug him when he got back from the fight, but he just shoved her off him. she knew he was upset about what she said to him. he had every right to be, he knew that. they were going back to alexandiria to get henry up and running again properly, and alexandria was closest. they were not staying, though. estella was still debating if she was going to.
she was excited to see judith again. she wasn't planning on being away from alexandria for as long as she was, and she always came back on time when she told judith she would. this time, though, she was broken the promise. that meant that estella would have to have judith over for a sleepover at some point. that was always the payment for breaking a promise. a sleepover at estella's house.
when they got to the gate, though, aaron didn't let them in without michonne's say so, because of lydia. michonne came to the gate, though, and told them they were allowed in as daryl assured her that they weren't staying.
"open it." michonne called to the people on the gate.
estella walked in, and instantly ran over to michonne's house, where she knew judith would be. she knocked on the door, and a couple second later, judith answered it. the younger gasped with excitement as she basically threw herself into estella's arms.
estella let out a laugh as she hugged judith back tightly, lifting her up so her legs were dangling in the air. the two pulled away, and judith had the biggest smile on her face as she pulled estella into the house, walking to the kitchen where she had the scrap book and the letter on the table.
"what took you so long?" judith asked as she passed her them.
"i just had to handle some things, and i probably still do, but you don't have to worry. i'm gonna be back before you know it." she replied, folding up the letter and putting it in her pocket.
"okay. what happened to your eye?" she asked, looking up.
"oh, i just got into something with someone." estella replied, not wanting to go into too much detail with judith. she didn't know if she even knew what was going on.
"with those people that wear masks? i heard my mom talking." she said, looking down at her boots. "are you okay?"
"i'm fine. you don't have to worry." estella said, flicking her hat.
judith laughed a little, before stopping. "oh! gracie and i decorated some cookies. i saved you one. here! i made an E for you."
