Chapter: 14

Madeline's POV:

My eyes open to a familiar room that I was in and I look around to not see anyone in the room right now. I push myself up into a sitting position. My hood was down as my hair was over my shoulders now. My eyes widen as I remember everything that had happen last night and the words that I have said last night without control. He knows now and I have slipped up. Then there were those three last night as well.

I knew it was going to happen one way or another. They were waiting until I was alone and that was it. A sigh escape from me as I look around the office that was Arno's. I have to admit though he had come to my rescue, but how did he know? I was alone in the hallway, so how did he figure out that I was there with those three? I might have to ask him when he gets here or wherever he had went to.

A sigh escape from me as I look around as I hug myself. I didn't know what to do as I had let out information that I have been holding from him since I have arrive here. My nerves were on end as I didn't know what he was going to do or say about it. I was really nervous for being here and after what had happened last night. How can I return to my daily routine here? Should I leave? If I leave, I would be hunted by both organizations. It didn't matter if I was to return back to the Templars, because they would either killed me or get rid of me.

I have seen that enough times with other Templar's that were working both sides and it wasn't pretty at all. It was before I return here to Paris, where I had lived most of my life. The Templar order is ruthless and shows no mercy unlike the Brotherhood. They show mercy and kindness, but not to Templars like us- like me. I'm still a Templar in their eyes, even though it has been a week or more since I have been here. I'm even wearing the robes of an assassin and strangely the robes were flowy and not tight like I thought they were.

The door open and it was just Arno who came in. I didn't see his companion with him. I believe his name is William, but I'm not sure. I don't pay much attention to him, but I guess I should. Arno notice that I was awake as he came over with a chair dragging behind him. He sat it down and sat on it in front of me. He was wearing a kind smile on his face and his hood came off of his head. He was handsome and the way his dark hair was tie up and those dark brown eyes of his looking at me. He had a stubble appearing on his chin and I got to say he was quite handsome to look at.

"You slipped up, Madeline" He murmured.

I nodded as I felt my cheeks burning as I confirmed it "Yes, I did"

"Were you two close in the Templar order?" He asked softly.

I look up at him and nodded again "Yes, we were almost like sisters until she disappeared. I really don't know what had happened to her, I heard she had join the Assassin's, because she had loved someone very deeply and left the order"

He look at me surprised and chuckled "Apparently someone had told you another story, which isn't a surprise within the Templar order. They cover their tracks well. Elise didn't leave the order, she wanted vengeance for her father. I'm guessing you know him?"

"Francois De La Serre...he knew my mother" I answered.

He nodded "Elise said that her Templar allies had been killed and some had abandon her, but she made an alliance with me and the Assassin Council to hunt down the killer who murder her father. It got...a little out of hand as I should say. I actually murder her killer and she was furious with me, but because of that I managed to convince her that it was for justice. I got her to calm down. Then, we continue onward finding more evidence that her allies were going rogue and that there was another Grand Master. Elise was the original Grand Master, because of her father. The supposedly Grand Master was name Francois-Thomas Germain. Yes, they both had the same first names, but different last names. Anyway, I lost Germain as he had escape from me here- in Paris as he had shown up for an execution of Louis the XVI's, but Germain managed to escape and instead of going after him. I end up saving Elise instead and hitch a ride on a hot air balloon. So with that she left me a note and had to dash somewhere. I end up getting expelled from the brotherhood. I went back to Versailles and became the town's drunk until she came and found me again. I was reluctant to help her at first, but she manage to convince me to start searching again. I didn't realize what was going to happen when we face off with Germain..." He murmured his anguish showing on his face as he began again "I was the first one to go against Germain, but I was defeated. Elise and I managed to find him again in a Templar Crypt. He used this sword called The Sword of Eden and had trapped me underneath a pillar. Elise left me to pursue the Grand Master and she was lock in a fierce sword fight with him. He was losing because of injury that I had inflicted on him, but that wasn't enough for what had happened next. The Sword of Eden became unstable as she was thrown into a column crushing her beneath it. I got free of the pillar that was holding me down, but I was too late. She was dead..."

My mouth had fallen open as I couldn't believe that's what had happen. I clench my hands into fists as the anger was flowing through me. He had lied to me! The person that I had looked up to and was doing all of his work for him. He lied to me! He told me she ran off and join the Assassin's, but it wasn't. They are corrupted and evil, why did my mother ever wanted to be a Templar? I felt a new determination go through me as I look up at him to see that he was looking at me. I was angry as I said strongly "I will join your order against these Templars. I will tell you everything just to stop them. They will know the true meaning of being scared really means. The Grand Master is mine though. He lied to me saying that Elise had join you and that I was the lucky one to be in the order. He was fooling me and I shall not let that go without justice being serve"

He smirked at me as I could see an interest gleam in his dark brown eyes "Very well. Usually, my tale brings sadness, but for you it brings anger and determination. I shall give you lessons on what it means to be an Assassin. It's not like being a Templar at all"

I nodded "Very well then. I want justice serve properly"

He gave me a full smile "I'm glad to hear it then. Do you know who killed your mother?"

I shook my head as my determination deflated at the mention of my mother's killer "No, I could never find any evidence of who murder my mother. I have looked and took every lead, but they left me at dead-ends and no more news. I sort of have given up on searching for her killer, maybe with your help. I could finally find my mother's killer once and for all"

"Then it's a deal. You'll help us and we'll help you" He said holding out his hand.

I chuckle and place my hand in his "Very well then, you sir have a deal"

"Good" He said as we shook hands.

We both laugh at our unusual conversations and it felt good to actual laugh. It has been a long time since I felt this way. A long time since I finally found a new purpose and this time I know I made the right choice in coming here. I finally know what I'm going to do now.
