Chapter: 23

Arno's POV:

She didn't say anything at all as we made it back to the Assassin's Creed bureau and she had a stricken look on her face. She didn't look like she had killed that Templar name Alexandre, but he died anyway by Thomas. That's what she told and I try to get her to tell me about what happened, but she was refused in telling me what had happened. She burst into tears as I never seen her looking so broken as she did back there. I only hold her until she was done before we made our way back to the bureau.

I only hope that she can comes to terms that things are going to change and I don't know exactly what happened, but I do know that she has to find it in herself to killed this men that she know. She has to grow strong and I know that she will, but time will only tell. Thomas made everything worst and I don't know what words got exchange between them, but I do know that whatever Alexandre had said had shaken her up pretty bad.

I went to the office as she went to her bedroom and I wanted to follow to stay next to her side, but I know she wants time to herself. I walk to my office after watching her walk down the hallway and went upstairs. I walk into the office as William was there asleep on the desk and I shook my head as I realized he was doing the much needed paperwork that I kept putting off. He is my faithful and dependent partner that I could ever ask for. He has grown into a fine Assassin. I threw a blanket over him as I went over to the couch and remove my hidden blade.

It felt nice to finally rest after an eventful day like today was...

**********************************

The morning came as I was already up and explaining everything to William what had happened last night. He kept silent through all of what I was telling him and I notice that  William's face expression darken as he folded his hands together. I asked "What do you make of this?"

"The Templar's know something that we don't know. Madeline's past is a shrouded one and all we know is that her mother got murder at a young age. Thomas was always at her because of the position she was in. He wanted that position for himself and after what he did on the street. That gave him the perfect opportunity to take over. He wanted nothing more than to frame Madeline and make sure she was never welcome back into the order. I don't think the Grand Master is going to last long, because of him. He wants power and you say that he is the next protégée of the Grand Master. He made a foolish mistake..." William began to summarized everything that had happen so far and suddenly it all made sense.

"He wanted Madeline gone for a reason or he wanted her as his follower or to do his bidding, but that doesn't sound right" I said.

"There's something about Madeline we don't know and she may not know herself. We have to get to the bottom of this, Arno" William said.

"Where do we start though, William?" I asked as I added "She didn't tell me anything that went down between her and Alexandre"

"Then he must have said something for her to be so quiet then and I think we need to expand our search. The Templars have people that they talk to and get special equipment from. We need to talk to those people as well" William answered my first question.

I was surprised at William as he was truly an Master Assassin that I could trust with my life. I hid the smile that wanted to show and nodded my head "Good thinking, William. I will go get Madeline and we can get this all sorted out"

"It won't be easy as you think it would be, Arno" William warned.

A smirk spread across my lips as I look back at William "I know, but we will try our best"

William nodded and before I could go out as the door open and we both look. I was expecting Madeline to burst through it, but it wasn't. It was one of the Assassin's instructors "Sorry for the intrusion, but I was looking for Madeline and I found this on her desk in her room"
