"See you tomorrow Lieutenant!"

Jisoo nodded, pocketing her badge she grabbed her briefcase and walked down the hall before bumping into an older lady.

"Sorr—"

The hot palm slapped her right across the face in front of her colleagues, she could smell the distinct floral fragrance.

The Lieutenant wouldn't dare look up.

"I can't believe you. I didn't even hear it from you, I heard it from her—" Mama Kim hissed before Jisoo shushed her.

"Mom." Jisoo muttered, holding her wrist. "Mom."

Mrs. Kim flung her wrist out of Jisoo's grasp, walking out of the police station, earning a few bows from her daughter's colleagues but as soon as she opened the door she turned around, finding Jisoo briskly trying to walk further away.

"Not in front of your employee, sweetheart?"

"Mom, stop it." Jisoo snapped. "If you wanna talk let's talk at home."

Jisoo opened the passenger door for her mother to get in, and Mama Kim did.

The deathly silence in the car was irritating Jisoo, she wouldn't stop fidgeting in her seat. Her palms were sweaty on the steering wheel and she took a couple of detours to make the car ride last longer.

Having her mother confront her was like coming to terms with reality, and she wasn't sure what her mother would say but she figured it wouldn't be too well.

Her mother adored Jennie, she loved her to bits and even thought she loved her more than her daughter.

It was because Jennie was without a mother, and Mama Kim's maternal part of her would never let someone grow up without a mother figure. Especially someone who is so young.

"Stop buying time and drive, Kim Jisoo." Her mother practically growled, giving her stern looks in the rear view mirror in which Jisoo pumped on the gas.

As soon as the door shut and Mama Kim sat on her couch, she already felt like she was digging her grave.

"I didn't raise you like this, at all."

"I'm sorry."

Mama Kim scoffed, throwing her purse on the ground.

"I saw Jennie today, at the grocery store and as soon as she saw me she already looked really upset. She smiled, you know? Jisoo. She smiled, and when I asked her what was wrong she said she was fine."

The fierce look how her mother and the mixture of disappointment almost was too much for the Lieutenant.

"I pulled her into a hug, and within seconds she started sobbing in my arms. I haven't seen that girl in a couple of weeks and this is what has been happening after you cheated on her."

"How dare you?" She said in her signature motherly tone, one you wouldn't dare contest.

"I-I'm sorry, Mom."

"You don't apologize to me, you apologize to Jennie."

"I did! You think I haven't?!" Jisoo rose up frustratingly. It's as if the world was against her.

No one was on her side but rightfully so, everyone immediately comforted Jennie.

Her friends didn't necessarily abandon her, but they grew a bit distant hearing about her affair.

It didn't help that some of Jennie's friends would give her an earful, lecturing her and almost embarrassing her in public.

She was so lonely. She just needed someone to talk to.
