"Congratulations on your promotion Lieutenant."

The blonde nodded politely, giving her seniors a bow she put on a smile for them.

"Your acts are commendable, Lieutenant."

The Lieutenant nodded, touching her new badge between her fingers, feeling the extra bar indicating her promotion to Lieutenant II.

Coincidentally enough because they were giving out awards and stuff for the police officers in this ceremony, they mentioned her 'viral' video where she fought the measly guy who sliced her back.

It was enough to warrant a promotion and a public announcement of that promotion during the ceremony. She got a nice salary bonus but that was it.

"Where's your fiancee by the way?" Her senior chuckled, the old man's wrinkles by his eyes were always warming, but it wasn't enough to subdue the emptiness.

"She's busy." Jisoo lied, shaking his hand.

"She's doing okay?"

Jisoo nodded before politely excusing herself.

She walked along the halls, going backstage she stepped out into the balcony when it was clear of people.

The Lieutenant leaned against the railing, not feeling accomplished one bit.

Not when her biggest fan wasn't here to support her. Jennie wasn't here to see her accomplishments and hard work, who was there to impress and make them proud of her?

She felt a small brush against her shoulder and smiled at Bobby as he handed her a beer.

"Lieutenant? I don't mean to pry but."

"Hm."

"You and Jennie aren't together anymore, why are you telling people you're still with her?"

"I don't know why don't you figure it out." The Lieutenant snapped, swirling the brew in the bottle roughly.

"I don't want to jump into conclusions."

The Lieutenant shrugged. "Then don't."

"Jisoo, I only mean well."

She scoffed, shoving the bottle back to him.

"There have been other rumors Jisoo."

"Let them talk." She hissed. Jisoo walked away, hands in her pocket she took the back exit through the banquets kitchen thinking that she had enough of today.

Along the way home she parked the car outside the convenience store. She sat on the hood of the car, taking a stick of cigarette out.

The more smoke she inhaled in the more she relaxed but she's pushed her mind into full capacity. In that depressing corner she went because she knew why she didn't tell anyone they broke up.

Because I can't come to terms with it.

I don't want the reality of it to be true.

I don't want to think she actually left.

Her quick smoke break had her thinking that she needed the week off. A week to recover.. from whatever the hell she was suffering from.

Do you have any idea of empty the rooms are?

Do you have any idea how hard days are going by for me?

I can't stand it. I wake up and it always hits me and suffocates me before I get up and go to work.

I can't do it.

Sitting at the dining room table with her new ID badge in front of her, she guzzled down the hard liquor in her glass.
