"Chaeng your cat keeps fucking licking me." The Lieutenant muttered, petting the cat's head.

"It likes you." The taller girl started to check out the bags of food out.

The Lieutenant went to go get squeaky toys, only because she was amused by it at the cat in her arms purred and slept.

"Do you like this?" Jisoo asked, tapping the felines head with the squeaky toy.

A low snark and Jisoo quickly put it away, afraid it'll bite her.

She walked by the little fenced off area where all the dogs were kept and groomed.

The Lieutenant couldn't help but kneel there, patting everyone's head, she melted for these animals.

A super small puppy came and stumbled about, cuddling towards Jisoo's feet she poked the small furball and Chaeyoung's cat sat on him.

"Hey!"

Jisoo pulled on the small puppy, letting it curl up in her hands she looked at the teddy bear like face.

"Hi." She whispered.

The puppy nipped on her finger, gnawing on it, it sneezed cutely and shook it's nose.

Chaeyoung turned around, seeing all the dogs on the loose crowding and trampling Jisoo. Soon the small Lieutenant was literally doggy puked and kissed by every 4 legged creature in the shelter.

The younger girl snorted, picking up her cat she placed it on top of Jisoo and cackled.

"Dog magnet."

A slight whistle and all the dogs came over to Chaeyoung, the woman had a bag of treats and fed them all but Jisoo laid there on the floor out of breath.

The other white maltese with its cute face, prancing on Jisoo's chest it yawned and laid there, using Jisoo as a pillow.

The Lieutenant did a mini sit up, seeing the puppy sleeping and curling on top of her peacefully she dared not to move an inch.

"Chaeng?"

"Yeah?"

"I want this puppy. I want it." She said, looking into the small orbs of the puppy.

Ever since Jennie took the puppies with her, the apartment had gone quiet. She loved dogs, or pets in that matter. She couldn't contain her excitement when she thought about the noise and eagerness of going home with someone waiting for her again.

Chaeyoung hovered above the Lieutenant. "What's stopping you?"

A few crickets and literally nothing stopping her Jisoo sat up, cupping the small puppy in her hands. "You're right."

•••

The blonde in the passenger seat literally wouldn't shut up about her new puppy. She named him Dalgom, and she let everyone in the police station know.

Although they were relieved to see that Jisoo wasn't moping around the police station like usual anymore.

"You wanna see a picture of my new puppy?" Jisoo said with a cheesy smile, shoving her phone into anyone who had working eyes. "Isn't he so cute?!" She oozed like a proud mother hen.

Her colleagues stared at her unimpressed almost to the point where they were genuinely annoyed. The Lieutenant's office space within a matter of a day or so was dotted with polaroid pictures strung up on her wall.

"Lieutenant.. you wanna come with us for some rame—"

"Nope! I got the little guy waiting at home for me!" Jisoo said, pocketing her phone. She pointed at the curb. "This is me. Drop me off here."

BamBam stuttered, a little stunned by the abrupt interruption and was going to protest but Bobby waved him off in the back. "Drop her off, she won't shut up. Bye Lieutenant!" He shooed, reaching over to close the passenger door.

"That fucking dog is so annoying, she literally tells me every little detail. She even told me how he shits! Who does that?!" Bobby yelled, climbing over to sit in the passenger side.

BamBam laughed so hard, but got a couple of knocks on the window that startled him.

Jisoo flipped them off teasingly. "I can hear you punks."

Bobby stuck his tongue out daringly, patting BamBam harshly to get him to drive away before the Lieutenant whipped his ass.

The Lieutenant shook her head, she'll give them a piece of it later but she had to hurry. She had a meeting to go to and the place they dropped her off wasn't even at her apartment.

She walked quietly into the community center, pushing the doors open the gym had soft murmurs going on.

There were chairs set up in a ring, and there were various people sitting on them looking at each other somberly, listening intently.

The Lieutenant walked with light feet around them, sitting in a chair obscurely placed a bit away just observing.

She wasn't really part of the conversation, she just wanted to see what it was like.

On the recommendation of Chaeyoung she had to stay for an hour, she didn't have to talk or explain her story to others Chaeyoung had said, but she just had to make an effort to go to these sort of 'alcohol anonymous meeting' type of things.

She stayed for awhile, listening to the group talk. She found herself relating not only to their stories but how they felt.

And here she thought she was alone.

It was quite a new experience for her.

A certain lanky man who looked like he hadn't gone a couple of days without sleeping properly talked about how he was so determined to get clean, but then relapsed a week later.

It resonated so well with her, she looked down at the floor as she listened to the man's story without profiling him in anyway.

Because their stories were all similar, they were all here for the same reason.

The stigma in this gym to her was gone, even though the group hadn't said anything but give her looks for sitting so far away from them, they didn't judge her.

She'd be lying if she said she was getting better. Technically she was, but it was a struggle, like pushing a boulder up a hill it always wanted to come back down on her.

There were particular nights when she couldn't sleep, she'd think about relapsing one more time. She was tempted, she craved it so bad but a simple phone call with Chaeyoung fought it off.

Playing with her puppy reminded her that Dalgom depended on her, and that she had to be better because who would play with him, feed him, bathe him if she wasn't there?

Baby steps, little steps.

Just as the group finished up their discussion, Jisoo left early and waited outside for Chaeyoung eating a candy bar she bought from the vending machine.

The car rolled up and Jisoo laughed at how similar this felt like a mom picking up her kid from kindergarten. "How'd it go?" She asked.

The Lieutenant shrugged. "It was okay."

"You got work or can we get some grub?"

"Boss wants me back for awhile, I'll treat you after my shift." She said, sitting in the passenger she dumped the half eaten candy bar out the window.

Chaeyoung gave her an earful and the blonde got up and picked it up, as punishment she had to hold it in her hand for the rest of the ride.
