The Lieutenant stood by the potted plant as stiff as a plank. She watched the pendulum of the old clock go back and forth as she tapped her foot.
Jennie was in a meeting and she was in the room for awhile, so she stood outside waiting for her.
She couldn't stop thinking about what Jennie said.
For some reason it scared her, she wondered if Jennie knew about what she had done last night with that girl.
She realized that there was no way, but she couldn't help feel guilty.
Jennie misses me.
She really does.
Oh god.
When she realized her phone had rung in her jacket pocket, she looked around before she took the call.
"Hey, what's up?" The Lieutenant smiled, hearing the little cat meows in the background.
"Can't believe you greeted me normally. Usually you say some shitty joke." Chaeyoung mumbled, noticing the Lieutenant sighing. "What are you doing?"
"Actually on duty right now."
"Lieutenant Kim, breaking protocol?! Unlike you."
"Really bored right now, haven't called you in sometime either so.."
"Where's Jennie unnie?"
"In a meeting. I've been standing outside for almost an hour." The Lieutenant grumbled, muttering curses. "I can't believe my job has been reduced to this."
"It's what you signed up for.. right?"
"God." Jisoo clicked her tongue, feeling herself slouch.
Chaeyoung heard the deep sigh, knowing Jisoo wasn't too happy. "How you doing?"
"I'm fine."
"That's a lie." Chaeyoung shot back quickly.
Jisoo groaned, cupping her mouth to the phone. "I probably have like 5 minutes to talk to you, so I'll say this quickly."
She took a deep breath, but nonetheless spit to whatever the hell was on her mind. "I-I feel like I'm tip toeing around her."
"Well, isn't that expected?"
Jisoo shook her head. "A night ago we kissed, we hugged, she slept on me. Then I walked away and fucked my co worker, but I couldn't stop thinking about her."
"Wait Jisoo—"
"Today, she was upset at me. I think it was because I didn't spend the night."
"Okay, so?"
"I keep thinking about her, I had sex with someone else, but I kept thinking of Jennie. I woke up and felt so guilty, but we aren't even together."
"It got so damn awkward today, I hate this feeling. It's like I have to act like I don't know her."
"Who said?"
"Me? Jennie? We act as if we haven't been lovers. She hasn't told her boss, I haven't told mine. No one knows."
"Why? Who said?"
"I-I don't know." The Lieutenant sighed, she shook her head. "My head hurts, my legs hurt. My back hurts. I'm tired, I'm bored and everyday I wake up feeling some sort of shitty way."
"Think about it though, you're with Jennie—" Chaeyoung said before Jisoo sharply breathed in.
"I'm with her, but I can't get close to her. I can't. I don't know what to do when I want to, but I think we made it clear to keep our distance didn't we.."
