Regulus has been taught to be numb to his emotions, that the only things he should feel are things that will benefit the family values. Regulus doesn't know how to express love, James is the opposite.

(THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE WHOLESOME DON'T BE HORNY UNLESS JAMES IS)

Regulus watched his brother from the other side of the room as Sirius laughed with his friends, Regulus had noted that Sirius seemed genuinely happy with his life at Hogwarts. He also wondered what it felt like, to be in Sirius' life and see that gleam of light that appeared in Sirius' eyes whenever he was with his friends.

Regulus had "friends" of his own, from what Regulus could understand this meant that they were people he was rather fond of or felt safer with than any other normal student. It was a unique type of relationship but not one that Regulus' parents encouraged him to explore.

Barty and Evan were two of these people that Regulus considered "friends". They were in Regulus' dorm, the three had all their classes together, Barty practiced drawing in the library while Regulus studied and Evan played quidditch with Regulus so they all saw each other frequently outside of class as well.

Regulus also had someone in Ravenclaw named Pandora, she wasn't apart of a noble family or involved in politics like Barty or Evan's families were. However she was just different too, she was kind to him even if they didn't always share the same views, more specifically even if their families didn't share the same views.

Dorcas was also another one of these people, Dorcas played quidditch with Regulus and had a similar interest in the stars so the two helped each other with astronomy homework. It was hard not to like Dorcas though, she was a very outgoing person who welcomed everyone into her life with open arms.

Regulus felt content with these people, but even though they brought him more security than anyone else did, he could tell there was just something he was missing. Regulus didn't look at the world the way Sirius did, and for some reason that bothered him.

Regulus snapped out of his trance when the bell sounded and he looked over to see Barty's hand on his shoulder, telling Regulus he'd be skipping this free period to go to Honey Dukes with Dorcas, Regulus hadn't even felt Barty's hand land on him.

"Cold."

"What? Reg you ok?"

Regulus quickly looked up and hummed in response, "yes I'm fine, bring me back a chocolate frog"

Barty nodded and Regulus placed a hand on his shoulder where Barty had just been. He was cold. Whenever people touched him, which was a rare occurrence since Regulus hated most people, Regulus felt cold, like his body and his brain had no connection when it came to physical touch. Pandora had hugged him many a times but Regulus never seemed to feel that warmth, despite being happy to see her.

Regulus walked through central hall, ignoring the stares he got from people, whether those were ones of respect or disgust had become indistinguishable to Regulus at this point as he made his way down to the library. Regulus walked up the spiral staircase that led to the second floor of the library and found his usual desk.

As Regulus was mapping out the constellations their professor had asked them to write about, he heard the sound of running and then saw James Potter fly around the corner and practically crash into the book case. Regulus got up and walked towards where James had landed, James looked up with a smile as Regulus bent down with his hand out...

...to grab the books that had fallen on the floor.

Once Regulus had put them all back in their place, he returned to his desk and continued his homework, praying to get at least the first five pages of parchment complete before the next bell.
