♯┆calm before the storm .ᐟ ━━━━━━━━━━
Denahi had found a new place for her hand. Her palm rested on the bump of her stomach, stroking her thumb. Her other arm stretched out to hold a woven basket full of fruits and items to help with her nausea. The hot sun beamed onto her flesh causing a thin layer of sweat because Denahi still wasn't used to the humid weather. To having the sun constantly glowing on her skin instead of being covered by trees.
Trees she missed too much. But, nonetheless, Denahi was starting to like Awa'atlu. Creating more friendships with Ronal, being taught some tactics amongst healing.
Plus, having her little one growing within her didn't seem too lonely in Awa'atlu. However, Denahi did miss her home. She missed seeing Neytiri, or even visiting Mo'at every once in a while. "He's got my ear, ow!"
The words made Denahi's ear twitch before following the direction of the sound. Sounded like someone had gotten in trouble with something... or someone.
Denahi gasped as she watched Lo'ak drag a Metkayina boy by the ear whilst his tail was being pulled from behind him. On the other hand, Neteyam sat atop another, throwing his hands and punching their face. Kiri watched from the sidelines, hand covering a smile and muffling her laughter.
"Lo'ak! Neteyam!" Her shouts made them all stop immediately. Neteyam jumped off of the boy, the four of them scattering.
Her head tilted at the sight of blood dropping from his face before Jake joined their side.
Both of her sons knew they were in deep trouble. "C'mon!" Jake grabbed their arms and dragged them towards the pod, "Move it!" He was not happy at all. "What was the one thing I asked? The one thing!" Jake had reached above furious. She stood besides Jake, her hand reaching out to hold onto his arm. "Stay out of trouble..." Their two sons responded in shame.
That was when Neteyam pushed between Lo'ak and Jake, "It was my fault." Denahi's ears fell at his words, head tilting before she looked over at her son. He liked to take the blame for something he hadn't caused— it was one of his ways of showing love.
"I don't think so. You've gotta stop taking the heat for this knucklehead!" Jake warned his eldest. Denahi stepped forwards and placed her hand onto Jake's shoulder, reminding him who he was talking to. And who about.
"Dad. Ao'nung was picking on Kiri— he called her a freak!" Denahi sighed, Kiri had always found it hard to fit in. And with someone calling her a freak, Denahi was sure that didn't boost her daughter's confidence.
Jake looked down at Lo'ak, "Go apologise to Ao'nung." Lo'ak stepped forwards in shock, not wanting to apologise to someone who had picked on his sister. "He's the chief's son. Do you understand?" Jake questioned, "I don't care how you do it. Go make peace."
Lo'ak huffed and walked out with the roll of his eyes but not before Denahi could squeeze a comforting grab on his arm.
And before Neteyam walked out, Jake pulled him aside, "So, what'd the other guys look like?" Neteyam's once shameful face beamed into happiness at his father's question, "Worse. Much worse."
Jake nodded and attempted to hide the smile that started to flip his lips, "That's good. Get outta here..." Denahi turned to Jake when their eldest exited the pod. Her face was stern, "Knucklehead?"
"Could'be said a lot worse..." Was all Jake responded. Right. Denahi dropped her jaw before sitting down and beginning to peel the woven basket of fruits she had carried.
"I am glad they had not been harmed," Denahi stated. Jake nodded his head before helping her peel the fruits. He had been in plentiful fights during his youth. Jake understood some ended miserably. "And that they won..." She added on with a smile.
The two looked at each other before bursting out into laughter. Her hand landed onto her stomach, "I hope this one is more behaved than them. I wouldn't change our children for the world, however."
Jake smiled. Lo'ak was definitely his son. There was no denying that. Lo'ak was a carbon copy, from his appearance to attitude and personality, "Yeah. I wouldn't either."
