♯┆calm before the storm .ᐟ ━━━━━━━━━━
And the news came worse when finding out that their children had disappeared. Somewhere the two of them couldn't find. The innocent Metkayina attempted to point out into the ocean where they could have gone, beyond the reef. Strictly where Jake had told them not to go.
A hand ran through her braids, frustrated with her own children. Worried about them. The war was beginning— Denahi could feel that starting. Jake's fingers tapped on her waist, Denahi noticing that she had his other hand pressed against the comms. "Dad! We're with a Tulkun that's under attack. Gun ships inbound. It's about two clicks out," Lo'ak explained through the ear piece.
Denahi widened her eyes. She didn't want to believe her children could have been so idiotic. "Who's with you?" Jake asked him. Although, the slight bit of silence didn't help to calm Denahi's nerves. "It's all of us! Aonung and Tsireya too!" Lo'ak mentioned. Malhua and Tuk? Their youngest were with them. "No, no," Denahi repeated as she began to pace the bouncy flooring.
"We're at the Three Brothers Rocks..." It seemed too far. Nothing would seem close enough to get to them in time. "You get to cover and do not engage. You hear me? Do not engage. We're coming," Jake told him.
Denahi took no time before running to Ronal and Tonowari's marui. Her worried expression scared Ronal immediately, knowing what information about to come would not be a good one. Ronal walked to Denahi, hands wrapping around her wrists in comfort. "Kids are under attack! They were defending a Tulkun. It's your kids too," Jake announced to the mated couple.
Ronal's ears dropped as she stared at Denahi, looking for an ounce of answers. "The demon ship?" Tonowari asked in response. Jake nodded his head, "Yes. We gotta go!" Ronal hissed before letting go of Denahi.
He and Denahi headed for their marui. Their frantic hands didn't seem quick enough to grab their weapons. Denahi let out a small prayer to Eywa that all of her children survived this. That the demons would save the Metkayina village in its mighty. "Don't you think you should stay behind?" Jake asked, looking down at her stomach.
Denahi shook her head, securing the bow around her chest, "Our children are in danger. I am coming." He couldn't say no to that. He knew Denahi wouldn't stay put. Nothing he would say could convince her otherwise. Denahi moved past him and called for Riti, the Ikran flying down.
She calmed Riti before mounting her, remembering how much she had missed the midnight flights on her fates with Jake. But, there was no time for good remembrance. Her children were in trouble. Deep trouble.
"Just... Be safe," Jake told her. Denahi smiled down at him, nodding her head, "You are the one that needs to be safe, Ma'Jake." He would do anything for his children— anything. If it meant sacrificing himself to save his children, he would do it.
And when Denahi reached the sky, she noticed Jake began to move towards the ship on his skimwing. Denahi's eyes closed before pressing the comm on her neck, "What are you doing? Do not go." Denahi needed him. She could not win this without him, "Ma'Jake. Talk to me!" She watched as his ears fell, expression twisted into sadness.
No. This could not happen. Denahi would not allow this to happen. But, when Payakan jumped onto the ship, crashing and crushing the people beneath his weight. The Metkayina's took this as their chance to charge at the demons. Denahi flew down with a cry of war, arms held out strong before letting an arrow hit a demons chest.
She had missed this adrenaline. Of keeping a strong core as she flew on her Ikran. But, what she didn't miss was the adrenaline that war brought. Strong and dangerous.
Gunshots flung her way, Denahi looked behind to find Quaritch following her on his own Ikran. She let out a hiss, furious that an Ikran had chose to bond with him. Her thoughts told Riti to move around the best she could, dodging the bullets until she called out for Jake to come and help.
He didn't take long to arrive, jumping out the water on his skimwing. Quaritch lost focus on Denahi, attempting to fight Jake. She looked over at the ship, still being attacked by Payakan— her children still onboard.
Denahi yipped as she landed on the ship. The sight of her children tied up making her ears drop down her head. "Momma!" Malhua exclaimed at the sight of Denahi. She rushed towards them, Neteyam soon joining.
"Neteyam!" Tuk shouted out. Malhua's shoulders stopped tensing at the sight of her brother coming to help them. Neteyam cut Tsireya free as Denali handled Tuk and Malhua. "Hey, baby brother, need some help?" Neteyam asked Lo'ak. Lo'ak shook his head in disbelief. Denahi smiled at the interaction, holding onto Tuk and Malhua.
"Get them out of here," Neteyam ordered Tsireya, leading Tuk and Malhua towards her. Malhua held onto his hand, not wanting to leave his side. "Go with her, little sis, you will be safe with her," Neteyam mentioned, stroking his younger sisters cheek.
Denahi watched with a heavy heart as Tsireya guided her youngest from the ship. "Who's the mighty warrior? Come on. Say it," Neteyam asked Lo'ak before the two of them chuckled in response, "Bro, come on!"
And when Lo'ak was free, he looked around before picking up a gun. Denahi turned her head, "Put it down, Lo'ak. We have to go."
Lo'ak shook his head, "Mom, they've got Spider. We have to go get him." Denahi and Neteyam shared the same look. Questioning if the three of them should save Spider. Denahi hissed in frustration, "Fine. But, I am coming too, with both of you."
