Even Denahi did not want Jake to do this. He had proved himself enough. "This is dangerous..." Her voice sounded depressed as her fingers dipped into white paint. Nothing about this seemed right. Jake did not need to do this, but he wanted to. Wanted to prove that he can do this. That he can become apart of one of them.
"You do not have to do this, Jake," Denahi kept her sight on her lap, not wanting to lift her head to greet his face. Over these few months, Denahi had started to understand those feelings she felt whenever she saw him. Warm butterflies within her stomach, flesh feeling hot and laughs from her throat. Denahi had feelings for Jake.
Jake realised how upset this situation made her. He reached his hands out, grabbing her arm and stroking his thumb to soothe her. Denahi looked up at him before joining their fingers together in the air. Jake smiled at her missing finger, but her hand fit perfectly.
Then Jake brought her hand to feel his heartbeat. How steady it was. How ready he is. "I wanna do this," He told her.
Denahi shook her head before weakly smiling up at him. "Just... come back to me," Denahi's voice was low and filled with sadness. Jake looked down at her, moving her chin so their eyes would meet. Their proximity being that close he could feel her fresh breath fanning across his face. Then he looked down at her lips, how plush they became when she parted them.
"I'll never leave you..." He responded back to her. Denahi felt a lock of his hair brush against her forehead before she leant back with a deep breath. "I have something for you," She mentioned to him. Jake sighed at the sudden loss of her closeness.
"It is not much," Denahi said before handing Jake two woven boxes, "But it is nice."
Jake opened one box to find the windbreakers she had promised to make for him. The windbreakers were blue and dark green. Patterned with beads. He went to try them on but Denahi stopped him before he smudged his freshly painted face.
He then opened the door box. Denahi watched a smile on her face as he carefully opened the box, revealing a necklace. It was hand-made, something Denahi had crafted for him during some spare time. Full of colourful stones carved in multiple shapes making texture amongst the colours.
"This is..." Jake looked up at Denahi, "Thank you." Yet again, another act of service. Denahi nodded her head back to his words, "I will put it on... if you pass this."
He could hear the fear in her voice. She was scared. Scared of losing him. "I won't leave you, Denahi," Jake reminded her again. He couldn't do that to her. They had come so far from their first meeting. His feelings for her had only grow more strong than before.
"Come... They have been waiting too long," Denahi took Jake's hand into hers as she guided him towards the other Na'vi's.
Mo'at began to purify Jake and Denahi watched with a heavy beating heart, "Wise worm, eater of the Sacred Tree— bless this worthy hunter with a true vision." The glowing worm dangled above Jake's mouth before Mo'at dropped it inside.
Eytukan removed the arachnoid for the macro. Denahi didn't want to watch it, she didn't want to see him like this. The arachnoid dug the stinger into Jake's neck. Hearing Jake scream out in pain, watching him fight the arachnoid that hurt him, tore Denahi apart. She never wanted to see him in such pain ever again. All she had to do was wait. And that felt the longest.
Mukata looked over at her with a concerned expression before holding onto her back. He was unsure if Jake would survive also.
Jake stumbled across the ground whilst looking down at his hands. The effects was beginning to work. "Please, Eywa..." Her faith relied on Eywa. The one who had chose Jake in the first place. Jake shouted out in immense pain which sent her ears straight. Denahi didn't take much time before running towards him, her hand falling to his chin, "It is okay, Jake."
Jake's stuttered his own words before pressing his face against her chest. His sweat transferred onto her flesh, her hand stroked through his hair. Her touch and movement soothed him, her heartbeat loud in his ear.
"It is finished..." Mo'at announced causing Denahi to sigh in relief. He did it. He was alive. "Did you find your spirit animal?" Eytukan asked Jake. But, all Jake could do was look around his surroundings.
"Something has come," Mo'at explained before grabbing his smushed face between her fingertips, "It will take time for the meaning to be clear!"
Jake's eyes closed in exhaustion before pressing himself tighter into Denahi's hold. She hushed him, calmed him as Mukata watched in relief also.
