Race to My Heart (AU) Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Eda heard screams and shouts around her. Someone was even telling her something, but she couldn't comprehend anything. With her eyes still fixed on the burning car she grabbed the railing and jumped from the grandstand onto the side track. Eda landed on her fours and, ignoring the alarms and shouts behind her, ran to the exit from the track.

"Serkan!" She shouted, running to the car. 

She almost reached it when the explosion split the wreak in two, and the blow knocked her down to the ground. She lost her orientation for a second but she used all her will to get up and move again toward the fire.

"Get her away!" Someone yelled, and suddenly Eda saw the rescue team with the fire extinguishers, and she felt arms restraining her movements and pulling her away.

"Leave me alone! I'm the doctor!" She put on a fight when a man was dragging her from the car.

"Eda! You can't help him in that state! You will injure yourself. Serkan wouldn't want anything to happen to you!" Eda heard the voice of the other Ferrari driver, who was sitting down this race due to a twisted wrist.

"Engin, please! I have to!!!"

"Eda!" Engin embraced her tight. "It's fire. You will burn."

"I can't let him burn! I have to make sure he's ok." Eda's screams turned into sobs. "Engin, he has to be ok. Please."

"He will be. The moment they will take him out, I will let you go, tamam?"

"Tamam." Eda whispered, the tears were running down her cheeks. "Please, baby, don't leave me."

The driver of the BMW left his vehicle and approached them, looking at the burning car with squinted eyes. When Eda saw him without even a scratch, she lost it. She freed herself from Engin's grip and walked to the man.

"You bastard, you crashed to him on purpose!" She screamed and slapped the driver when he snorted at her. "Why you didn't go around!"

"Easy, Yildiz, these are serious accusations to be thrown by you." He said with a smirk, which made Eda want blood.

"I won't leave it like that! You can be sure!" She threatened him.

"It was an accident. He blocked my way." The BMW diver shrugged and turned to walk away.

"I will kill you!" Eda jumped at him and started to hit him, but Enign grabbed her by her arms and forcefully pulled her away.

"Eda, they took Serkan out."

She momentarily turned and ran to Serkan. The paramedic put him on the ground. He wasn't moving, and the rescuers were sweeping the dry powder from the fire extinguisher over him. The car doctor was already by his side, checking his pulse.

Eda knelt next to Serkan's head, and when she touched his helmet, it was so hot it almost burned her hands. She opened a face shield and saw he was unconscious. She leaned to his face and felt his breath.

"Serkan!" She called him, and her heart almost stopped in horror when she saw the trickle of blood running on his forehead.

"We need to remove his helmet!" The car doctor yelled to Eda.

Eda nodded at quickly moved to kneel behind Serkan's head and put her hands on the sides of the helmet, waiting for the other doctor to open the strap and stabilize Serkan's neck. She pulled gently, taking the helmet slowly, until it came off, and she could see the extent of injuries Serkan had suffered. She saw the blood on his hair and the wound at the back of his head. One look inside his helmet showed her that it broke. Eda quickly dressed his wound and wrapped his head with gauze while the car doctor put an oxygen mask on his face. She held Serkan's head, supporting his neck, when he was moved to a stretcher and rushed to be flown to the hospital. Eda grabbed the helmet from the ground and ran after him.
