Serkan woke up early in the morning. He felt slightly better, being surrounded by familiar things, but it wasn't enough. Something was missing, and he had a gut feeling it wasn't a thing but a person, and he had a pretty good idea who that person could be. Someone who was constantly in his head, inside his every thought, took over his brain and took over his life.
Serkan pressed his palm to his heart as it was hurting him lately more often. He checked his pulse and decided to schedule the doctor's visit, because definitively there was something wrong with him as yesterday evening, after Eda left, he got a fever.
Fortunately, it passed relatively quickly, and today, he was ready to work again, but first, he had to do something.
Yesterday, he had a lot of time alone to think and decided that it was time to start making amends, so he got up from bed, did his usual morning routine, dressed into his three-piece black suit, and went downstairs to fetch his key, leaving the apartment without breakfast. He planned to eat somewhere else.
It was still early when he pulled to the gate of Bolat's mansion, but he knew his mother was already up, and as expected, he found her in the dining room, sitting by the breakfast table.
He felt a pang in his heart, noticing how she was sitting alone in a big, empty room, looking sad. He stood by every word he said yesterday but regretted the way he did that. He shouldn't have to be so rude and aggressive toward his own mother, but sometimes, he couldn't help his short-tempered character.
Aydan picked up her head to check who entered the room, and her eyes teared up when she saw Serkan approaching her.
"Serkan." She whispered, pushing her chair away and standing up when he stopped in front of her.
"Anne, I'm sorry for my behavior yesterday." He smiled apologetically, putting his head down.
"No, I'm sorry." Aydan said, putting her hands on her son's arms and pulling him into an embrace. "You were right. You don't need to apologize. I did you wrong many times. I didn't show you enough love to teach you how to find it in your adult life, and you almost destroyed your relationship because of me and Alptekin and how much we failed you as parents."
"It's all right." He patted her the back gently. "I don't want our old mistakes to pull us down."
Aydan smiled, feeling immense relief, and smiled even brighter when Serkan didn't leave but sat by the breakfast table next to her. He seemed calmer than the other days and she had an idea who was standing behind this slight change in his demeanor and today's visit.
"Where were you yesterday?" She asked casually from over her coffee.
"Eda showed me the place where I moved out."
"Did you stay with her?" Aydan tried not to appear too cheerful at this information, even if she rejoiced internally. "You lived there together."
"No." Serkan's mood suddenly darkened. "She left to stay with her family."
"Oh, ok." Aydan said shortly, covering her disappointment by getting very interested in eggs in front of her. She could see how her son seemed to be similarly disappointed as her, so she risked another question, deciding to push him a little bit. "What do you think about Eda?"
"What do I think?" Serkan glanced at his mother, visibly surprised by this question and taken off guard.
"I mean." He blushed, starting fidgeting on the chair. "She's very smart, intelligent, hardworking. Has a lot of talent, and it's very beautiful..."
Aydan smirked slightly, seeing how he silenced abruptly. She didn't expect him to admit to it so quickly, but Eda seemed to effortlessly get into Serkan's heart this time too.
