On Monday morning, Eda entered her office alone and late. She made a small detour on her way to work for a doctor's appointment to get the contraceptive shot. Eda told herself she hadn't done it with Serkan in mind, but for herself in case she would need it in the future, but even she wasn't believing in what she was trying to convince herself to.
Eda glanced at the empty desk in the corner of her office and couldn't help a small feeling of disappointment. She knew very well that Serkan would be late too, as he was at the airport, seeing off his parents before their one-month-long business trip to the States and Australia, but she still was hoping he would be there. Somehow she got accustomed to his presence in her office, and now, without his teasing comments, infectious laughter, and beautiful smiles, it felt empty.
Eda turned to her desk and stopped at the sight of a big bouquet of red roses standing there. An involuntary smile spread on her lips, but before she could come closer to smell her flowers, the door opened, startling her.
"Eda." Ceren stuck her head inside, followed by curious Melo. "Who gave you these beautiful flowers?"
"How do you know about my flowers?" Eda frowned.
"Tell us." Melo begged.
"Serkan." She shrugged, sitting down and pushing the vase away from her files.
The redhead frowned. "You didn't even look at the ticket."
Eda sighed, taking out a small white envelope and read the card.
"For every time I will forget."
She glanced at the rest of its contents and hoped she didn't turn as red as she felt right now becasue she saw a huge amount of condoms stuffed into the envelope.
"So? Who was it?" Melo brought Eda back to her senses when she was trying to discretely find the information about the size on the package of condoms. She closed the envelope and threw it back to the flowers as if it burned her hands.
"Serkan." She blurted out, now crimson red.
"What did he write on the card that you are blushing like that?" Ceren teased with a cheeky smile and made a couple of steps toward the desk. "Let me see."
"No!" Eda exclaimed, snatching the bouquet with both hands and pressing it to her chest to her friends' amused gazes. "It's private."
"I'm sure it is." The blonde chuckled, rolling her eyes slightly. "I was just kidding. I read only tickets from your flowers, which are ending up in the trash."
"What?" Eda frowned. "What flowers?"
"You were getting flowers regularly for a week from Kaan Karadag." Ceren said casually with a small shrug.
"Why do I not know anything about it?!" Eda asked, getting angry.
"Because your jealous boyfriend, slash personal assistant, is throwing them to the bin the second they're arriving." Melo added.
"Good morning, ladies." This was the moment when Serkan decided to make his appearance. He smiled brightly at Eda, but his smile dropped when he was greeted by her very angry gaze.
"Melo, we should go back to work." Ceren looked between their faces and pulled the redhead's arm. "We have the meeting. You know which one."
"Yes, you're right. That one."
They were out of the door not longer than a second later.
Eda slowly stood up, walked to the door, and slammed it shut, not tearing her eyes from Serkan's face, who, for the first time since she had known him, wasn't his smug, confident self as he seemed to always to be.
