Eda closed her eyes, falling off the top of the building, but hit a flat surface and landed on her back only a couple of feet below. She was so surpised that the gun fell of her hand.

She quickly looked around and saw that she was on the suspended construction cradle. Serkan jumped next to her and tossed her his gun.

"Cover me!" He shouted, pulling her up to his chest and taking out a knife to cut off the safety ropes of the platform.

Eda knew what was going to happen next. She clung to Serkan, wrapping her legs and arms around his torso and hips as he grabbed firmly a wire rope. She raised the gun to shoot anybody who would lean over the edge. She fired twice before Serkan cut the second rope, and the cradle started to slide down at a high speed. Eda pressed her face into his chest, closing her eyes as he held her with one hand.

The cardle stopped just a couple of feet above the ground with a tug so strong that the force of it launched Eda and Serkan out of the platform. They fell to the ground, rolling on the grass, with Eda landing on top of Serkan as he groaned in pain.

Eda jumped to her feet, collected the gun that fell out of her hand, and reached for Serkan to help him up. They were at the back of the construction site, away from the street, but they had only a couple of minutes of advantage. They climbed through the wall, and Serkan took Eda's hand, pulling her down to hide behind the small hedge as the helicopter flew over their heads.

"Go to that overpass." Serkan whispered, pointing at the small train station near them as they started to crawl.

When they reached their destination, they leaned over the railroad tracks, where the cargo train just stopped. Serkan pulled Eda closer and started to search her again.

"What are you doing?" She hissed at him.

"Looking for a tracker."

"Still thinking I rat you out!" Eda exclaimed, getting agitated.

"No, but they must've put it on you without your knowledge." He pulled the leather jacket off her arms, checked its pockets, and threw the garment on the roof of one of the carriages.

"Hey, I liked this jacket!" Eda looked angry at him.

"This is the only thing you leave lying around in the office." He shrugged. "It had a new stud inside."

"Bastards!" She spat as Serkan took her hand and led her away from the trains. They passed the station and sat in the roadside ditch, near to small forest.

"Where now?" Eda asked, looking at Serkan leaning against a small pile of sand, breathing heavily, and holding his stomach. He was bleeding from his right arm.

"Two miles from here, there is a base I set up in case of emergency. Do you remember it?"

"Yes." Eda nodded, kneeling over him and pushing him down by his shoulders when he tried to get up. "Did you get shot again?"

"No, I think I scratched myself on the wire." Serkan winced when Eda pulled the fabric of his jacket, where it stuck to his arm. His wound was open. She ripped the sleeve of his black shirt and tied it high and tight around his arm.

"It has to be enough for now."

Serkan raised to his feet, kicking the sand to remove the bloody stains he left on it. "We have to go. They will start to search this area soon. If we run it should take us around fifteen minutes."

"Can you run?" Eda looked at Serkan's pale face and dark circles under his eyes and felt an unpleasant pang in her stomach, seeing him barely standing on his feet. He left the hospital only this morning. She was getting scared for his health.
