"Oh, fuck." Eda whispered.
She was screwed. She just shouted at her future boss. What if the first thing he would do after taking over would be firing her? She couldn't lose her job. She dedicated her whole life to this company. The work was her life.
"What happened?" Melo asked under her breath, noticing Eda's sudden mood change.
"Do you remember that asshole from the morning?" She leaned toward her friend.
"Yes?"
"It was Serkan Bolat."
"No way."
"I'm screwed." Eda said in a loud whispered and jumped on her chair, surprised by a kick she received under the table. She looked with wide eyes at the smiling man in front of her.
"Did you just kick me?" She asked in disbelief, and he put his index finger to his mouth, shushing her.
Eda blushed, took one of the folders from the table, and hid her face behind it. She spent in that position the rest of the meeting. Fortunately, they weren't discussing any important topics, so she wasn't required to speak, or she would die from embarrassment.
The moment the meeting ended, she quickly got up from the chair and hid behind the backs of other board members, who were leaving the conference room. Eda glued herself to the wall, slowly but surely moving toward the door, using the occasion that Kemal seemed to be engrossed in conversation with a couple of investors.
She planned to call in sick, retreat to her apartment, and come up with a solution how to save her face.
Eda was just about to reach the door and was already internally celebrating her successful escape when Serkan materialized himself in front of her, and she almost screamed at his sight. She might even yelp. She wasn't sure.
"Going somewhere?" He tilted his head to the side, looking her up and down with a smirk.
Eda glared at him, trying to murder Serkan with her gaze, but he didn't drop dead. Too bad, but at least she tried.
She snorted with an offended pout, spun on her heel, making sure her hair would hit his face, and walked in opposite direction, back to the middle of the conference room.
"Eda, just give me two minutes, and we will start." Kemal said, looking up from over a pile of papers he had to sign. He glanced over her shoulder before returning to the documents. "Serkan, don't stand there like a plank of wood. Introduce yourself."
"Of course, Dad." Serkan smirked, closing the door after the last person left the room.
Eda shut her eyes for a brief second and sighed heavily. She calmed herself down and turned to him, extending her hand.
"Nice to met you, Serkan bey." She said with a fake polite smile, but her eyes were spitting fire. "Eda Yildiz, CEO of this company."
"Pleasure to meet you, Eda hanim." Serkan took her hand and started to shake it.
Eda almost gasped when their fingers touched because she felt odd tingles starting at the tip of her fingers and shooting through her whole body.
"You'll be working closely together, so you can drop this nonsense with that bey and hanim," Kemal commented with his back to them, not tearing his gaze from the papers, meanwhile Serkan still was holding Eda's hand, shaking it vigorously with a big grin on his lips while Eda was trying to pull her hand out of his grip.
"How closely?" She muttered through her teeth.
"Very closely." Serkan whispered, tugging her hand stronger which made her almost fall on his chest. She barely managed to steady herself, not missing to send him another annoyed glare.
