Eda quickly squatted and picked up from the floor her leather jacket, phone, and car keys that fell off her hands. She looked back at the girls.

"This is some kind of a joke? You are practicing for April Fools?" She snorted and almost shouted. "How can Serkan be a main suspect if he's at the hospital?"

Melo brought her lips together in an uncomfortable, apologetic smile. "This is only the early stage of the investigation, but this is what we have been told, and from the surveillance footage Ceren was able to recover, Serkan was the only one who met the boss before his death."

"That doesn't mean anything, and why are you gossiping and telling me all of this, just like that?" Eda crossed her arms on her chest and squinted her eyes. "Shouldn't that be a top secret for the sake of investigation?"

"We were appointed to this case, and from what I know, you will be part of the team, too." Center answered.

"Who is leading the case?"

"Efe, as our handler, temporarily took over until someone will be promoted to the position of the boss. He wants to talk with you."

"I see him already coming for me." Eda said under her breath, looking toward the end of the corridor, from where Efe Akman was walking toward her in quick strides.

"Eda, you were supposed to be in my office." He said, forgoing any customary greetings, and turned toward the girls. "All of you too."

Eda was sitting in the chair in front of the desk in the same position as yesterday evening and giving exactly the same statement, but this time, not only Ceren was in the corner, but also Fifi and Melo.

"You didn't see the face of the shooter?"

"No." Eda shrugged. "I was with my back to him."

"Him?" Efe repeated. "It was a man?"

"I don't know. I just said it like that."

"Did you notice anything? Do you remember what happened after you got hit in the head?"

Eda frowned, thinking intensely. That was the one and only thing she wasn't certain about, but she couldn't get her mind to work. She was almost sure she saw something but couldn't remember what.

"No". She answered.

"Did agent Bolat give you anything between his appearance in the hotel and the shooting?"

"No." Eda shook her head, keeping her calm composure and indifferent facial expression.

Technically, it wasn't a lie. Serkan didn't give her anything. But he taught her a couple of things through the years of working closely together. If someone wanted to kill you or your partner, you keep your mouth shut and don't lay all your cards on the table, no matter who is asking, and he told her very clearly not to trust anybody.

Eda made a colossal effort not to bring her hand to her chest, where in her bra, she had hidden the envelope she had found in Serkan's jacket. It was another thing he taught her. The best place to hide is in plain sight. The chances that anybody would even think about body searching her were way below zero, and a piece of paper was undetectable. So, currently, no safe was as good as her bra.

"Ok." Efe Akman sighed heavily, looking at all the agents gathered in the room and back at Eda. "I hope you aren't mad at me for making you repeat your statement again, but I needed to be sure that this is what you saw and heard."
