Hope was still holding out to Clary as she looked at her, Hayden had accepted the fact that Clary wasn't going to come with her as he tried to pull his sister away despite her protesting. Hope was still hoping that Clary would go back with them as she was the closest thing that she had to a sister and she wasn't ready to lose her.
"Clary, come on, we gotta go," Hope stated as she heard the sirens
"Hope, I think Jace can help us," Clary told her as she turned to the girl
"Come on," Jace directed as he started to walk away
"How do we know this Mick Jagger-looking guy is even gonna try..." Simon questioned his friend
"Mundane, we do not have the time," Jace scolded with an eye roll
"I know, trust me," Clary spoke as Jace drew the symbols
"He's, like, burning himself," Hayden added in return
"Buddy, what's going on, man? I'm not your type, man. I don't even..." Simon trailed off before they walked inside
"Where are we?" Hope questioned as she looked around
"What the hell?" Hayden mumbled under his breath
"Clary, is there a war going on that we don't know about?" Simon questioned looking at her
"There is now," Jace commented as they walked
"I think my mother's at the center of it," Clary mumbled to her friends
"You coming?" Jace asked the girl who nodded
"What is this place?" Hope questioned once again
"There's a lot of gear in here, what'd they do, rob a tech shop?" Hayden remarked as he looked around
"So this cold-blooded killer is gonna help us?" Simon added in questioned
"He's not a killer, he's protecting us," Clary corrected before Jace sighed
"Specifically, you, it's sort of our thing," Jace explained more as they walked
"Your thing? You guys have a thing?" Simon asked the man
"He means a Shadowhunter thing. That's what they do, protecting humans from demons," Clary added before Hayden scoffed
"Demons, right? That makes perfect sense, 'cause demons are running all around New York," Hayden remarked putting his hands on his sides
"That is the first correct thing you've said all day," Jace remarked making Hope chuckle
"What is going on? Why are there mundanes in the Institute?" Alec asked as he walked up to them
"A Circle member followed them to get to Clary," Jace explained to his friend
"A Circle rune, just like the guys that took my mother," Clary added as well before Hope spoke up
