Hope and Alec were eating breakfast at her apartment, it had been an awkward morning. Hope was sitting in silence as Alec was making them food, she wasn't feeling too well. Alec was upset about the timing of everything and how traditional his family was, he knew that his mother would scold him.

"My mom used to say that babies are blessings," Hope spoke as he walked in

"Not when we aren't married," Alec remarked making her scoff

"Why can't you just be happy? We are having a baby and if you didn't want kids then you should've told me," Hope scolded the shadowhunter

"My mother and father are going to skin me alive," Alec stated causing her to roll her eyes

"You care more about what your parents think than what is going to be happening between us?" Hope asked with hurt lacing her voice

"It's not good timing," Alec stated in return

"You think I wanted this to happen now? I'm still in school and can barely afford rent," Hope urged in return

"You don't want me to move in so how are we supposed to raise a kid?" Alec asked his girlfriend

"You're putting words in my mouth, that's not what..." Hope reminded him

"And you're twisting this into something that it isn't, I'm not a child, Hope," Alec stated with anger

"Then stop acting like one!" Hope shouted at him

"I lost my appetite," Alec spoke before walking out

Hope watched as he left the apartment with the door slamming, Hope wiped her eyes before going to clean up thier unate plates. She had already scheduled an appointment just to confirm it and see if she was pregnant. She had to admit that she was a little upset that Alec was upset about it since she hadn't planned it.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Luke asked her once he saw her

"Alec and I got into a fight, that's all," Hope half lied to her father figure

"Are you hungry?" Luke asked her causing her to nod

"Yeah, I could use some food," Hope joked as they sat down

"So, are you gonna tell me what's bothering you?" Luke questioned making her sigh

"It's a long story and I'm not sure that you would actually wanna know," Hope admitted looking at him

"What, it's not like your pregnant or something," Luke joked before she looked down

"Or something," Hope mumbled in response

"He's not happy?" Luke questioned before she started crying

"He said it's not the right timing which I agree but it is happening," Hope explained as Luke went to sit next to her

"Alec or not, that kid is lucky to have you as a mother," Luke whispered to comfort her

"Maryse invited me earlier to have dinner with them since she looks to me as a daughter but how I am supposed to face Alec with everything going on?" Hope asked with tears

"It's not like you're hiding it from him? If Maryse wants you there then go for you and for her," Luke told her handing her a napkin

"And I can you if I wanna leave early?" Hope asked making him chuckle

"Always, Kiddo," Luke added causing her to chuckle

Hope nodded before going on to eat before heading home to get ready for this dinner, Izzy had texted her where they were going to have it. Hope felt as if her heart was going to burst as she walked into the restaurant and to the table. they started dinner after Charlie had come to the restaurant since Izzy and Maryse had invited him.

"Hope is studying to be a doctor, aren't you?" Maryse asked the girl

"Yeah, it's proven to be quite tiring," Hope joked earning some chuckle

"Tiring but worth it," Charlie added making her nod her head

"So what kind of doctor are you?" Hope asked with wonder

"Pediatric surgeon," Charlie responded in response

"You work with children," Jace spoke with a soft smile

"Yeah, well, kids love to break their arms, running at a coffee table and not everybody heals as fast as Isabelle," Charlie joked with the Lightwood girl

"Yeah, the magic of makeup," Izzy joked with a soft smile

"Anyway, Isabelle has told me about the family business," Charlie moved on to the topic

"What exactly did she tell you?" Alec asked in a harsh manner

"Is the jewelry thing a secret?" Charlie questioned as he was clueless

"Oh, jewelry, she told you we're jewelers?" Alec remarked looking at his sister

"We prefer to think of ourselves as artists," Maryse quickly covered up

"I think the boys are being a bit overprotective right now," Hope joked before taking a drink of water

"What is it?" Izzy asked once Hope's phone went off

"Just a reminder for an appointment," Hope dismissed with a smile

"Excuse me, I just need a refill," Alec remarked before leaving

"Who's up for some dessert?" Maryse asked the group

"Maryse Lightwood at the Hunter's Moon," Luke spoke as he walked up to them

"Lucian," Maryse greeted back with a smile

"We should get another round," Izzy spoke before they all got up

"I think after dessert, I might head back with Luke since I have that doctor's appointment tomorrow," Hope explained to her friends

"What is the appointment?" Jace asked making her pause

"Allergy," Hope lied with ease

Hope shared a look with Alec before going to grab her jacket once she saw Luke getting ready to leave, she said goodbye to everyone and hugged Maryse before heading with Luke. She didn't want to be alone tonight so Luke let her stay in her old bedroom back at his house.
