𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻, 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵

Hope was talking to Alec as he was gathering his bearings, Aldertree had pulled her and Magnus out to yell at them for going against his wishes but they didn't care. Hope felt so relieved that Alec was okay now, She had a hard time watching him like that when he was asleep.

"How'd it go with Aldertree?" Alec asked with a sigh

"Well, the man didn't disappoint, in his own way, he informed me that I will indeed be punished, but the form of punishment is yet to be decided," Hope explained to the boy

"All for trying to save my life, Jace may have been the one who pulled me out but I did feel you there and it did make a difference so thank you," Alec whispered making her nod

"Thank you for not dying on me, How is Jace?" Hope asked with a chuckle

"He won't be gone long, once his hand touches the Soul-Sword, the truth will come out and prove that he's never been on Valentine's side, and look, um, I know that with everything that's been going on, we haven't had a chance to..." Alec trailed off in thought

"Go on that first date we never had? Right, yes, I know a place in SoHo that has the best lamb kebab this side of Marrakesh or we can have Magnus Portal us to Marrakesh, are you hungry?" Hope asked in a heap

"Starving," Alec answered making her chuckle before there was a knock

"Hey, Alec, demon briefing in the ops center. All hands on deck," Raj stated before walking off

"Rain check?" Hope asked looking at him

"Yes, is that okay?" Alec asked looking at Hope

"You go battle your demons," Hope responded before walking out

Just when Hope thought that things were going back to normal, an alarm went blaring throughout the institute making her go look for Clary since she was worried about her.

"What happened?" Alec asked as he walked in 

"Classic possession hangover," Clary responded looking back at the man

"Hole punched right through his chest just like our mundane in the morgue," Lydia explained looking at the body

"The demon's in the Institute," Alec stated looking around

"Activate emergency surveillance. Victor's unreachable. I've ordered the Institute be put on quarantine until we kill this thing," Lydia directed everyone

"But I don't get it, how did the demon get past the wards?" Clary questioned the group

"Same way it got in without setting off this, It must have some advanced cloaking ability, it hid in that dead body and let us do the rest," Isabelle explained with a soft smile

"I didn't know demons could do that," Clary added in return

"Until now, they couldn't. This new form of possession, cloaking ability, targeting the Institute, it's..." Alec added in support

"Valentine, his experiments," Hope stated making them all look at her

"My mom told me how he was determined to create a super-being that could defeat the Clave. It's what he tried to do with Jace," Clary explained looking at her adoptive sister

"Both victims had damage to the prefrontal cortex. The demon must be feeding on negative emotions. Anger, hate, and rage cause the host to violently act on those urges," Isabelle spoke looking at the table

"So we continue to scan for venom and heat signatures and try to narrow down the host before it strikes again," Alec directed earning some nod

"Alec, you check the living quarters, you two take the utility tunnels," Lydia spoke before they walked off

"And I'll just go back to my room," Hope added with a soft chuckle

"We could use your help, you're smart enough," Lydia added making Hope stop walking

Hope came back to the center so Lydia could tell her what she could do to help, Lydia saw that she was struggling to find her place here and she understood what that was like and how it felt. They were walking around as they were trying to see anyone out of the usual around the compound. Raj turned around with a remark before attacking them, Hope was slammed against the wall making her pass out, and then woke up she walked back into the main where Clary and Hayden's eyes softened on her

"Okay, put away the pouting looks, I'm okay," Hope joked walking up to them

"Something happened," Hayden started making her look around

"Is everything okay?" Hope asked in a soft tone

"The demon possessed someone and Mom was right there," Clary added making Hope shake her head

"Do not say what I think you are going to say," Hope scolded with her voice cracking

Hope looked over at Hayden who had the same pained look in his eyes that matched Clary's, she then looked over at Luke's to get a sure answer making him nod before he wrapped his arms around her as she cried.
