After a failed mission they all came back to the compound in a heave of anger and disappointment, Hope was watching over a dazed and asleep Alec as Magnus tried to wake him up. She was worried about him and everyone saw that

"It's not working," Isabelle scolded the man beside her

"I'm sorry, Isabelle, Parabatai bonds are like a tether that binds two souls. Jace and Alec share emotions, instincts, and strength. It's an angelic bond. My magic can only do so much," Magnus spoke looking between the girls

"So Jace is like this, too?" Hope asked the warlock

"Not necessarily, it appears that when Alec called out to him, part of his soul never returned and now he's stuck, lost somewhere between himself and his parabatai," Magnus explained in a soft tone

"But if Jace brought back that missing piece of his soul..." Isabelle trailed off in thought

"We may very well have the cure," Magnus added making her sigh

"Whatever we do, we need to do it quickly," Hope reminded the two

"Stay with Alec. I'll go find Jace," Isabelle directed before walking out

"So, how is it you came to be High Warlock of Brooklyn?" Hope asked the man

"It just kind of happened," Magnus admitted making her nod

"So, could anyone do magic or do you have to be born into it?" Hope questioned once again

"Are you asking me because you are curious or are you asking because you wanna learn?" Magnus questioned the girl who sighed

"I would like to be able to help more rather than just being useless," Hope admitted in a soft tone

"I can teach you a few things but I can't teach you the powerful spells since you are only human," Magnus explained making her nod

"I'm not trying to be some powerful enchantress but I am trying to be more reliable in this world," Hope added with a chuckle

"Well, if you ever wanna be more then just ask," Magnus corrected making her tilt her head

Hope was confused as to what he meant but decided not to push it as she had other things on her mind, she was happy that she could learn a little but that didn't mean that she could help out when they needed her and that still bugged her. Clary and Isabelle had come back into the room about thirty minutes later.

"How are we gonna get Alec to Magnus' apartment? Aldertree has people everywhere," Hope explained to the group

"Not a problem, my parents want to get Alec to Idris, Magnus will create a Portal, we'll take it to Jace instead but right now," Izzy explained to the others

"Simon needs me," Clary explained once she hung up

"Be there for your friend, Magnus, Hope and I have everything under control," Izzy added before Clary nodded then walked out

"It's okay, Alec. You hear me? We're gonna get you out of here and bring you back," Hope whispered to the sleeping man

"You put in a request to transfer your brother to Idris?" Aldertree asked as he walked in

"My parents put in the request," Izzy deadpanned as she crossed her arms

"Alec isn't leaving this institute and I'm sure his warlock friend can figure something out," Aldertree stated in return

"This isn't waking Sleeping Beauty with a kiss, Runic power is deep and it requires magic that can't be accessed in the walls of this institute," Magnus seethed to the man

"I don't know what you're up to, and, ultimately, I don't care but as far as I'm concerned, your brother is too weak to be Portaled," Aldertree scolded them

"You're just using Alec as bait to arrest Jace," Izzy remarked with a sigh

"No, I'm working to capture the fugitive who put Alec in this position. I have allowed this warlock into the Institute for the sole purpose of treating your brother although, you don't seem to be doing too good a job of it. I'm placing Raj by the door and do not try this again," Aldertree explained to the group

"I'm just under orders," Raj excused himself as he watched

"Shut up, Raj," Izzy scolded the boy

Magnus went back to using his magic on Alec to try and keep him stable, Hope was growing more worried by the minute as time went on. They managed to sneak him out after struggling and coming up with a new plan. Alec started to slip just as Jace managed to come in. Jace had started to bring Alec back as everyone watched and cried a little.

"If aught but death part thee and me," Alec whispered as his eyes opened

"Jace Wayland! You are hereby sentenced to the City of Bones to await trial for the charge of high treason and aiding Valentine in the war against the Clave," Aldertree accused as he walked in

"Wait, what the hell is going on?" Alec asked with a wince

"It's all right, Alec, all that matters is you're back," Jace stated before being escorted out
