Hope had fallen asleep shortly after Alec took her back to his room, she woke up the next morning with a headache from crying most of the night. Part of her didn't wanna believe that Hayden was dead but the other part of her wanted to make peace with it so it didn't hurt as much anymore.

"Sleep okay? How are you feeling?" Alec asked once she woke up

"I'm okay and I slept okay," Hope spoke in a soft tone

"Come on, get out of bed, breakfast stops serving at nine a.m," Alec stated trying to pull her up

"Alec, I appreciate the hospitality but doesn't the Clave have rules about me staying here?" Hope questioned looking at him

"Oh, they're not rules, they're suggestions, you're not living at the Institute, you're just visiting for an extended period of time, let's go," Alec spoke as she rolled her eyes

"I'm not up for socializing, I kinda just lay here and wallow in self-pity," Hope suggested in return

"You and I both know that self-pity is not healthy," Alec charmed with a smile

"Luke is going to get locked up for the crime and the real killers are going to get away with it," Hope added making him sigh

"Luke will be fine, we'll figure something out," Alec told her as she rolled her eyes

"You didn't see it though, the place was packed with blood and bodies. Hayden died protecting Jordan and Maia by the cellar," Hope spoke as her voice cracked

"You don't have to go get breakfast but I'm sure Clary and the others would like to see you up and walking around," Alec convinced his girlfriend

"Okay but the second someone looks at me funny or with pity then I'm out," Hope stated causing him to chuckle

"Atta girl," Alec whispered before kissing her

"You know it's not too late to go out for breakfast, right?" Hope questioned her boyfriend

"And miss Pancake Day? No way," Alec remarked making her roll her eyes

Hope let him help her off the bed before going to get dressed, she hadn't heard anything about Luke and she hated that since she wanted to see him. Hope had found out that Luke was pleading guilty to killing the pack

"I thought I told you not to come here," Luke scolded as he saw the girls

"And let you end up in prison?" Hope questioned while rolling her eyes

"If I take the fall for this, this investigation ends with me and if the police keep looking around, there's no telling how many lives could be in danger," Luke explained to them

"There is another way, Luke," Clary stated in response

"We're gonna have Simon encanto the lieutenant and call it all off,"

"Simon can't encanto the entire NYPD, you saw what happened with Ollie and I told her about the Shadow World and people's deeds because of it so I'm not going to let that happen again," Luke stated to the girls

"So, you're just gonna take the punishment for someone else's crime? Luke, you don't deserve that," Hope stated looking up at him

"Actually, I do. I left my pack," Luke admitted watching them

"You had no choice," Clary convinced him

"No, you always have choices, girls, If I'd been at the Jade Wolf when the vampires attacked, maybe things would've ended differently," Luke suggested to his daughters

"Yeah, maybe we would have lost you, too," Hope added while holding his arms

"Luke, you cannot blame yourself for what happened to the pack," Clary added in support

"They trusted me and I abandoned them," Luke reminded once again

"So now you're just gonna abandon us?" Clary asked with anger

"Girls, you know that I will always love you," Luke reminded with sad eyes

"Then don't leave us," Clary stated as she cried

"Please, not now, we need our dad," Hope pleaded in between sobs

"I'm sorry, kiddos," Luke whispered before being escorted out

Hope watched as he walked out and him not looking back, she rubbed her belly out of comfort but it wasn't working as she had now lost her father and her brother all within twenty-four hours of each other. She needed some time alone to cope and think, Alec had managed to find her and knocked on the door. She walked up and hugged him as she cried and he rubbed her back trying to comfort her. Once, she had calmed down they went back to the institute where they found Magnus collapsed on the ground.
