Being one of the only humans in a group full of supernaturals can often have its perks and can sometimes have its downsides as well. No one knows that better than I and my best friend, Matt. We were seemingly the only two normal human beings in our group of friends. I mean Jeremy's technically human but even he had his supernatural perks being a born vampire hunter and all.

Matt and I had our own separate understanding of how everything was happening and tried to keep each other safe when the world kept feeling like it was crashing down on us. I couldn't help but wonder when one of us was next to change into some kind of supernatural being. It often kept me away from my friends and the only ones who truly understood where I was coming from was Matt and Stefan.

Matt stayed with me a lot of the time when we both weren't working. Spent our time indoors staying away from the drama of the outside world and keeping to ourselves until it was time to go back out and work another day, Matt at the grill and myself at a floral shop down the street from the house.

When Tyler made his leave to break his sire bond and left his house to Matt, he graciously invited me to any in the house with him when I was on the verge of losing my apartment in the middle of town. Matt has done so much for me that I don't think I'll ever be able to repay him, but I will damn sure try until the day I die.

Currently, Matt and I were sitting on the couch in the living room, both curled up in blankets and enjoying a movie, while we waited for our Chinese takeout to arrive. This was what our Friday nights normally looked like. Just relaxing and not having a care in the world, just enjoying each other's company. Any homework I had, finished and neither of our phones turned on after takeout had been ordered.

Halfway through the movie the doorbell rang indicating that our food was here. "I'll get it." Matt said as he got up and headed towards the front door to get the food and pay the delivery guy. After a few moments, he came back holding 2 bags of food. "Alright now, I think we have a little bit of everything and there will definitely be enough for tonight, tomorrow night, and maybe the night after as well." He said with a laugh as he sat everything out on the coffee table.

I let out a soft laugh and nodded in agreement with him. "Oh, most definitely." I said as I leaned up and started looking at what all the blue-eyed boy had bought. "Looks good though so I'm not going to complain about eating on all of this for the next few days."

He nodded himself. "Right there with you. Less dishes."

"Oh, you don't even do the dishes here so hush it." I stated and grabbed the container of General Tso chicken and sat back in my spot against the back of the couch.

Matt huffed and sat back in his spot as well. "Yeah well that's because I do enough of them at the grill and just rather not do them when I get home."

I shook my head at his confession as I took a bite of my food. "I'm still wondering how anything got done around here before I got here."

"Oh, come on it's not that bad." He said and adjusted himself to where he was looking over at me with his arm on the back of the couch.

"Yeah now that I'm here. Matt, you know I love you but come on when was the last time you actually cleaned this house, besides your room, since I have been here?" I questioned as I adjusted myself to look at him as well.

He took a moment to really think about it which told me that he really didn't know when the Iast time that really was. "Well... umm..."

I giggled at his silence. "Yeah, that's what I thought." I said smugly as I went back to eating my food and watching the movie.

"Hey, wait, no. I cleaned the house when you got really sick that last time." Matt said as he pointed his finger at me trying to prove his point to me. Much to his disadvantage though, I was not giving him this that easily.

"Matty, that was almost a year ago now. Granted it might have been more if Klaus hadn't felt sorry for me and gave me his blood to not only make me feel better but to cure my immune system issues altogether. Sorry, lovie." I giggled as I said the last part.

Matt chuckled as well and nodded. "Okay, okay. Fair point. Got me there." He let out a relieved breath. "That's the only good thing that came out of Klaus."

"I beg to differ." Matt looked over at me in disbelief. "And before you give me the 'He tried to kill our friends' speech, hear me out. Out of all the drama that came out of having Klaus around we would have probably never gotten here. Everyone else is out dealing with the craziness that is their lives and we are here relaxing, watching movies and chowing down on some bomb ass Chinese food. We don't have to deal with any of that supernatural mumbo jumbo if we don't choose to because why? Because we're human and no one hates us. That came from having him around for a while even if you don't agree." I paused and took a sip of my drink before continuing on. "And if you ask me, I much rather be spending time with you here than being out there worrying about the next move we have to make in order to save Elena again or conversing with Bonnie about how Damon's ideas could get us all killed and it actually be true instead of a harmless joke. The most I want to worry about is what the hell my grade will be on that essay I just turned into my professor this morning.

He took a moment to think about all that I had just said before nodding. "Yeah I guess you're right."

"I know I'm right."
