YN walked into the room, her backpack slung over one shoulder and a bright smile on her face. She plopped down on the couch next to Matt, and he couldn't help but return her smile. It was the kind of smile that spoke volumes without a single word exchanged.
"What time's your flight?" Matt asked, his gaze still fixed on his phone, but his attention fully on his friend.
YN let out a sigh, her smile faltering just a bit. "It's at 5:30," she replied, her tone tinged with a mix of excitement and reluctance. She was always eager to embark on new adventures, but leaving behind the comfort of home and friends was never easy.
Matt nodded, finally tearing his eyes away from his phone to meet YN's gaze. "You ready for this trip?" he asked, a knowing look in his eyes.
YN shrugged, her fingers absentmindedly playing with the strap of her backpack. "I guess so. It's just... you know how it is. New places, new faces."
He did know. Matt had seen YN navigate through various challenges with a remarkable blend of determination and grace. It was one of the reasons their friendship worked so well – they understood each other in ways that didn't require a constant stream of words.
"Well, you're gonna rock it, as always," Matt reassured her, bumping his shoulder gently against hers.
YN chuckled, a genuine sound that eased some of her nerves. "Thanks, Matt. I'm glad you're here before I leave."
"Wouldn't miss it for the world," he replied softly, a warmth in his voice that spoke volumes about their bond.
As the minutes ticked by, they settled into a comfortable silence, the kind that only true friends could share without it feeling awkward. YN leaned her head against the back of the couch, closing her eyes briefly as she took a deep breath.
"Promise you'll FaceTime me from all the cool places?" Matt said, breaking the silence with a playful grin.
YN laughed, her eyes still closed. "Of course! I'll make you jealous with all the sights."
"That's the spirit," Matt replied, his own smile widening.
Their friendship was built on moments like these – simple, genuine, and full of understanding. As YN's departure time approached, they both knew that distance wouldn't change a thing. No matter where life took them, their platonic connection would remain as strong as ever.
