Tonight was not a good night. I couldn't sleep for shit. Nothing I did seem to help at all. I had put ambient noises on, tried to count sheep, and tried listening to meditation music. You named it, I tried it. It was damn aggravating, to say the least. Especially, since tomorrow is the start of the summer festival. I had to be there early to help my aunt set up her vendor stand.
I've been staying at Elena and Jeremy's since it was closer to the town square than my aunt's house and I wouldn't have to get up as early just like I have done every year for the past six years. The couch was always my bed during this time of year. I never wanted to wake anyone up that early in the morning during the summer. It just felt wrong, having to get up that early and be in the cause of everyone in the house waking up as well because of me.
As I lay there trying to sleep, I noticed light coming from the stairs. I knew it was probably Ric coming down to get a snack, he's known to do that. But then I heard Jeremy's voice come from the doorway.
"(Y/N/N)? You asleep?" he questioned.
"Not at all." I replied with a slight sigh. "Can't sleep, either, I take it."
"Nope. Mind if I hang out in here with you for a while?" he asked.
I let out a small laugh. "It's not my house, Jer." I said as I set up. "If you want to then go ahead. No one is stopping you."
"It might be my home, but it is your bedroom for the next few days." he stated as he sat down next to me on the couch.
"That is very true but I still won't stop you when it's your home." I said, with a smile. "What has you up this late?"
"Couldn't fall asleep for some reason. Maybe it's because of this whole thing with Bonnie being gone and only I can see her or just everything in general." Jeremy shrugged. "I don't know. What about you?" he asked, knocking me in the shoulder. "You have work to do in the morning get you were still awake."
"Yeah, I know, and it's quite honestly pissing me off. If I could find an excuse for it then I would, but seeing as there isn't one to find, I can't. I'm stuck in limbo with my own sleep schedule. It's not cool, man." I cross my arms over my chest and pout, causing the Gilbert boy to chuckle and pull me into his side.
"Maybe it's because we're in the same house but not sleeping in the same bed. Did you ever think of that?" Jeremy questioned.
I looked over at them and shrugged. "I just didn't wanna wake you in the morning. That and it's too tempting just not to go help Aunt Mill when I'm in an actual bed with my lovely boyfriend." I state with a smirk. "He makes it pretty damn hard to get up in the mornings when he keeps pulling me back in."
"Maybe he was hoping that she would give up working the event and just enjoy it with him." The Gilbert boy replied in the third person.
"Lucky for you, I am only helping her set up this year. Keira is actually working the stand with her this time." I explain with a smile. "Keira just can't be there early in the morning to help set up because Dylan has a doctor's appointment at like eight I think."
Jeremy smiled and gave me a small nod. "Hard to believe that boy turns two this year."
"Right?! But nevertheless, Keira and Daniel are in from wild ass ride." I say, and cuddled into Jer's side, trying to get comfy.
"With that little rascal, there's absolutely no doubt." he said, with a playful smile and wrap his arms around me. Jer placed a gentle kiss on my hair before placing his to rest in that very spot.
Before I know it, my eyelids start to droop slowly. The sound of Jeremy's heartbeat starts to steady as he, himself starts to fall asleep as well. The Gilbert boy was right, of course. We were in the same house, but not in the same bed. And with that, I start to fall asleep.
