My favorite little human was sick. So sick in fact that she couldn't even move out of bed. I've never seen (Y/N) so sick in the years I've known her. It came out of nowhere. One night she went to bed fine and then the next morning she wasn't. My siblings and I are keeping a close eye on her and keeping her fed and comfortable, but it has me quite worried.
"How did she get so sick so quickly?" Freya asked as she sat down after checking on (Y/N/N).
Niklaus shroud. "No one knows. She doesn't leave the house unless it's with one of us and no one has come to visit her in quite some time since her parents were killed. So how she caught whatever this is, is unknown."
"I did take her to the cemetery the other day." Elijah piped in. "She asked me to take her to see her parents' graves. Kol, I know you normally take her, so I hope it's okay."
I gave him a slight smile and a nod. "Of course. Was there anything out of the ordinary while you were there?"
My older brother shook his head. "No. I can't say there was."
"Kol, is she allergic to anything? She is human after all." Freya questioned.
I thought of my sister's question for a moment before speaking. "The only thing I can think of is daffodils."
Elijah set up in his seat. "Did you say daffodils?"
I nodded. "Yes. Why?"
"Someone had placed some on her parents' grave. I didn't know she was allergic and she had never said anything." He said.
"Of course, she wouldn't. They are her favorite flower and she hates that she can't be around them." I tell him trying to ensure him that this wasn't his fault. "But that would explain why she's so sick."
"I'll make her mother's special tonic. Now that we know what it is, it should help her feel better sooner." Rebekah said and hurried off towards the kitchen.
"Kol?" Susan, the nice vampire girl that Nik and I had hired to watch over (Y/N/N) when we weren't here, called over the railing, which made me look up. "(Y/N)'s calling for you."
"I'll be right up." I called up to her.
"Don't scold her too much brother. She's probably scolding herself enough for the both of you. " Niklaus tells me.
"I didn't plan to scold her at all. She's sick. She probably just wants me to hold her so she can fall asleep." I said as I walk towards the stairs.
"Something you'll gladly do." Elijah piped up as I made my way up.
"Every time, brother. Every time." I called down as I finished my way up the stairs and to her room. (Y/N) was rolled over on her side facing the far wall with the blankets pulled up to her chin. "Love, you called for me?" I questioned as I rounded the bed and sat next to her.
(Y/N/N) groaned slightly as she opened her eyes to look up at me. "I did but I don't remember why now." She admitted before letting out a not-so-gentle sneeze. "Sorry if I interrupted your family time."
"You didn't interrupt anything, my love. We are all quite worried about you." I say as I pushed the hair that had fallen in her face back behind her ear. "Elijah told me he took you to the cemetery. Sweetheart, you should have told him about the flowers. That's what has you so sick now."
"I know but it had been such a long time since I have actually got to enjoy them. Granted I'm paying for it now but in a place so dark, those simple daffodils brought a little ray of light." She said with a sniffle. "I'm sorry for not telling anyone sooner. Especially Elijah. He probably thinks it's his fault for not knowing."
"No, no. You have nothing to truly be sorry for, my darling." I said lifting her head just slightly so she was looking at me once again. "And don't worry about my brother, I made sure to let him know you are just a danger to yourself sometimes. There's nothing to worry about, other than getting you back to your normal self. Okay?"
(Y/N/N) nodded slowly then we heard a knock on her bedroom door. Rebekah stuck her head in and gave the sickly girl a sad smile before walking in. "Hey there. How are you feeling?" My sister questioned as she walked over to the bed.
"Could be better. Could be worse." (Y/N) replied as she rolled over onto her back.
"Well, I made you a little something that should help you feel better." Rebekah said as she handed me the small tonic glass. "It's just a little something our mother used to make us whenever we got sick. Trust me when I say, this stuff is like magic in a glass."
The (Y/E/C) eyed girl gave my sister a small smile as she sat up slightly. "Thank you, Beks."
Bekah smiled back. "You're welcome. Get better soon. When you do, we're having a best friends shopping trip."
"That would be great." (Y/N/N) said with a slight tone of joy in her voice.
"Get some rest." My sister said as she made her leave from the room.
When (Y/N/N) was settled, I passed her the glass that my sister had handed me. As she took a sip of the liquid, (Y/N) let out a small sigh of relief as the warm liquid hit her throat. "She was right. It is like magic in a glass."
I let out a small chuckle. "What's magic is that it will knock you out cold in a few minutes." I tell her as I took the glass from her and placed it on the bedside table.
(Y/N/N) nodded. "Yeah, I can feel that part working already."
Smiling, I rounded the bed once more and climbed in next to her. Once my girl was all settled next to me, I wrapped my arms around her. "Sleep, love. You'll be better soon." I said and kissed the top of her bed. By the time I looked down at her (Y/N) was already asleep. She looked so peaceful now that she was finally sleeping. I pulled the blankets up slightly and kissed her head once more. "Sleep well, my love."
