Preparations

The streets of New Orleans bustled with life as YN and I strolled hand in hand while the setting sun cast a warm glow across the city's timeless architecture. For the past few weeks, the two of us had been knee-deep in wedding preparations, and though a relaxing day as it may be, today had been no exception. We had yet to pick our honeymoon destination. Though we did join Rebekah and Hayley on some last-minute shopping before the tiny Mikaelson's arrival.

As we leisurely wandered through the crowded shops and different markets with bags filled with baby clothes and such, I couldn't help but steal glances at YNN. Her smile radiated a joy that was all too similar to my own. The mere thought of seeing just how happy this time with my sister and the werewolf girl made her was warming. My heart pounded in anticipation just to marry her.

In the midst of our group's wedding and baby banter, the air shifted. I could feel the tension that now surrounded the area we were traveling in and the hairs on the back of my neck began to stand on end. Before I could even voice any concern, a group of vampires emerged from the shadows, fangs bared and eyes glinting with malicious intent. As the protector, my first instinct was to step in front of the girls to shield them from whatever harm could possibly come their way. Yet in true Mikaelson fashion, Rebekah and YN both stepped around me and fell into formation next to me.

To them, Hayley took precedence overall - pregnancy made her vulnerable which made her an easy target. We'd be damned if we let anything happen to her or the child. As the other vampires attacked, the three of us moved in swift but precise movements. Each one's determination matched that of the others.

Amidst the chaos that ensued, I caught glimpses of how YN fought them with grace and precise precision that never failed to captivate me. As I fended off the couple of vampires around me, I thought of how nice it would be to take her away from all of this. "Ireland," I said as I thought outload.

"What?" she questioned with fangs bared as her hand dug into the woman who stood in front of her and ripped her heart from her chest.

I stood there after ripping a young man's head from his shoulders and looked at her. "I was thinking Ireland for our honeymoon."

YNN stood still for a moment before another charged her way. "As much as I adore that you are actually thinking about the wedding, right now, could we possibly talk about this when we take care of these low life bastards?" She questioned as she threw the guy to the other side of the alley.

I nodded and said, "Good idea."

After everything was said and done, all 'low life bastards' as my fiancé says were taken care of, the four of us headed back to the compound. Though she didn't show it, I could tell that YNN was exhausted. So, we headed up to our room after making sure Hayley was okay.

As we settled in for the night, my YEC eyed beauty looked up at me. "What were you saying about Ireland earlier?"

I smiled at the fact that that she remembered and wanted to carry on the conversation. "I know a quaint little place near Murlough Bay that's quiet and peaceful that time of year. It would be lovely to get away from this chaos and I know how much you enjoy your time when you visit. Admittedly, so do I. Plus Ireland just has this certain charm that is calling our names if you were to ask me." I explained as I locked my gaze with hers. "What do you think, love?"

A beautiful smile formed upon her lips before she nodded and said, "That sounds like a dream. But just know that no matter where we go or what we do, if I have you, I'm home."
