Scores - Matt Donovan

I had just taken my final exam for my high school career, this morning. The exam which determines if I would graduate with the rest of the senior class. We were all told that we would receive our scores and answers to the very question by the end of the day today. So here I sat in the living room just staring at my laptop screen waiting for that email with my results.

Matt, my boyfriend, had already received his email saying that he was walking across that stage next Friday. In fact, everyone in our friend group did. From Elena to Caroline. But I was here still waiting. And to be honest, it was really starting to piss me off. Usually, I would have been the first one to get results on exams like this one. But I was in dead last, and it was worrying me.

Though, I had never got a bad score. I was a straight A+ student, first in line for valedictorian, but waiting like this just kills my soul.

Matt tried to make me feel better by getting (fav food) from (fav restaurant) after he had gotten his results in. For some reason, that didn't even make me feel better when we both knew that it normally would. Don't get me wrong, I greatly appreciate everything my boyfriend does for me. My Matty was the most selfless person I have ever met. Always the first one to apologize when we get into an argument. Always the one to rush and help anyone that needed it. But right now all I could think about was these damn scores.

My leg bounced uncontrollably as I continuously stared at the screen before me. Matt sat across from me in the armchair, looking over every so often to make sure I hadn't gone completely insane.

"Baby, give it a break. You'll get that email soon enough." He said after watching me look at this laptop for over six hours.

"I know. I'm just worried since it's taken this long that I have gotten a bad score or something." I stated in a defeated tone and leaned back against the back of the couch.

Matty let out a slight chuckle before standing from his spot and walking over to sit next to me. He then pulled me into his hold and said, "(Y/N/N) there is no possible way that you could have failed the exam. You started studying for the damn thing a month ago."

I let out a small giggle of my own. "I just wanted to be prepared."

"Too prepared, I must say. But nevertheless, if anyone passed the test with flying colors, it was you." Matt then booped my nose with his finger. "You were the last in the class to receive it but, I be damned, you were the first one to finish." My blue-eyed boy gave me a tight squeeze and kissed the top of my head. "You got this in the bag."

I let out a deep sigh and nodded. "You're right, and maybe if I stop paying attention they'll finally send it."

Matt nodded at my statement. "Exactly. Now let's close this..." he trailed as he reached the table to close the laptop. But as he did, the notification for my emails went off, and I popped up.

That had been the first sound that the device had made since I had gotten home. I quickly opened my emails, and there in my inbox sat the email that I had been waiting hours for. Addressed from the school board and everything. Matt looked at me with a smile when he saw who it was from.

"Well..." he said. "Go ahead. Open it, baby."

He couldn't have told me fast enough. I clicked open the email and went over every single word with no expression on my face.

"What does it say?" Matt questioned.

"I made valedictorian!" I exclaimed and practically came off the couch with the biggest smile plastered on my face.

"I told you, you would pass." He said and hugged me tightly.

I shook my head. "Not only did I pass and become valedictorian, but I had the highest grade in the entire senior class."

Matt's jaw dropped, practically to the floor. "Wow, remind me in college, you're my study partner." I laughed at his comment. "Now that you've got your answer, let's sit back, eat that food that no doubt we have to heat back up, and watch a few movies."

"Deal." I smiled. "Time for celebration is done. Relaxing time is now."
