They watched as she made her way down the staircase from their spots in front of the fireplace. Watched as the (y/h/c) haired beauty gracefully walked down each step, holding the railing loosely with one hand as she descended and the current book she was reading in the other. She paid the Salvatore brothers no attention as she walked past them, making her way to the kitchen, undoubtedly for a midnight snack.
"How does she do that?" Damon questioned as (y/n) passed them.
"Do what, exactly?" his brother responded. "Be agile enough to read and walk at the same time?"
The eldest Salvatore nodded. "Yes. Any other time, she is one of the clumsiest people we know." He said.
"She's just strange that way. Paying any attention, she has horrible coordination but when she's not, just as graceful as a dove." Stefan stated.
"She's a confusing being."
Stefan chuckled at his brother's statement. "Yes, but she's our confusing creature nonetheless."
Damon sighed happily. "We're lucky she still chooses to deal with the two of us." He paused for a moment to think. "She deserves so much more, though."
His brother nodded slightly. "She would probably be better off without us." He stated. "We've given her so much grief since coming back and meeting her."
"But she chooses to stay with us anyway," Damon stated as he took a sip of bourbon.
"You know she can hear you, right?" Echoed the voice of their favorite (Y/H/C) from the doorway.
Damon shook his head. "We were not aware of your supersonic hearing when you were reading as well."
(Y/n) laughed. "Yeah, well, now you do."
The Salvatores laughed with her.
"But either way, you two couldn't be more wrong."
The brothers looked at each other then back at her. "What do you mean we're wrong?" Stefan asked.
(Y/n) walked over to the couch where her boys were perched and sat in between the two of them. "Well, do you remember how I was when you met me? Lost, confused, shut off, and in a very dark place."
The Salvatore men both remembered that all very well. (Y/n) was a very shy girl, still is at times, and very closed off from the everyday world around her. When Stefan and Damon first met her, the young girl's parents had just died in a boating accident. She was left alone and scared, so the two brothers took her in. The boys worked forever to get the (y/e/c) eyed girl to open up and come out of her shell.
"Very well." Damon stated as he wrapped his arm around her.
"Well, without my two superheroes, I wouldn't be like I am now. Hell, I probably wouldn't be alive today." (Y/n) said.
"Don't say that." Stefan pleaded as he lifted her legs and placed them on his lap.
"What? It's true. And two, I wouldn't trade you two boneheads for the world."
"Did she just call us boneheads?" Damon questioned his brother.
"I do believe so. You know what that means." Stefan replied.
(Y/n) shook her head. "No, please. No." The young female pleaded with her boyfriends before she tried to make a run for it.
But before she could even get off the couch, Damon pulled her back down into his lap.
"Yes, (y/n), yes." He said and started attacking her with tickles. It wasn't long before Stefan joined in. All you could hear for ten minutes throughout the whole boarding house was the sound of all three of them laughing.
