There is no doubt in my mind that I made the best decision of my life a year ago when I asked, (Y/N) Gilbert to marry me. Back in high school, I would have told you to kick rocks if you would have told me just a few years down the road, I would be standing at the end of the aisle waiting for the girl of my dreams. Even though I thought I was the shit because I was the mayor's kid, I knew (Y/N/N) was way out of my league.

She was the definition of graceful and elegance. Still is. (Y/N) will give you the shirt off her back, the food in her hand, or anything she was able to to make sure the people around her got what they needed. She helped me grow in a way she nor I will fully understand. I remember the day I proposed like it was yesterday. Caroline had helped me plan out a big thing. It was supposed to happen on our summer vacation to the beach. Elena, Jeremy, and Ric all were supposed to watch from a nearby hotel as (Y/N) and I walked down the beach at sunset. Now, did that end up happening? Well, no. The walking at sunset did but the whole beach thing and her siblings being able to watch? That was not in the cards that night.

What really happened as we were walking in the garden behind the house. (Y/N) had said a few minutes before that she was tired of just sitting in the house, but didn't want to leave home. Her (Y/E/C) eyes shine bright while being complemented by the sundress she was wearing. She seems so relaxed in carefree as we walked. I just couldn't wait at that moment and had already been carrying the ring in my pocket. So before we went back inside, I stopped her and dropped one knee.

Caroline wasn't quite happy that I ruined the whole plan. But as soon as (Y/N) told her that she could help her and Elena plan the wedding, she stopped making a fuss. Elena and Jer didn't even care if they got to watch, and neither did Ric. They said as long as (Y/N/N) had a true smile on her face, they were happy.

Now here we are a little over a year later, still not on a beach, and getting married. It is starting to feel like a whole different world than we are used to. All our friends and family are here. While the ones who are still alive anyway. Matt being my best man and Elena being her maid of honor. The field that held the original lock with home, was decorated with white and different shades of purple. Lights were hung around the trees and on the arch. Damon standing there as our officiant.

We all smile and a guest stand when the song (Y/N) had chosen to walk down the aisle, starts to play. It takes a moment before Alaric steps into view. (Y/N/N) had told me how happy it made him when she had asked him to walk her down. She also told me that Jeremy gratefully gave up that spot for Ric. Ric was the closest the Gilberts had to a dad after their parents passed, so it was very understandable.

After another few moments passed, (Y/N) came walking over to him with a bouquet of purple roses in hand. Ric held out his arm for her which she gladly took with a smile on her face. She looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress. Elena had told me that when she picked it out, it made both of them cry because it look like the one their mom had war in the pictures of their parents' wedding. It looked like it was made just for (Y/N).

When (Y/N/N) and Ric made it to the end of the aisle, he looked at her and smiled. He handed her off to me and padded my shoulder before sitting in his seat next to Stefan since Jeremy was in the groom's party. (Y/N) handed her bouquet to her sister after she fixed the train of her dress. Then Damon started the ceremony.

"If anyone has any reason for our lovely couple, not to be joined in the holy matrimony," he started to say after welcoming everybody. "Then you are sadly lying to yourself and need to forever hold your peace." Everyone in attendance laughed but silently agreed.

Not too long after, the vowels were said and rings were exchanged.

Damon smiled at the two of us before saying, "By the power vested in me, I probably present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood. Tyler, you may now kiss your bride."

I smiled at (Y/N) before gently placing my lips on hers. The kids with soft and sweet and it felt like days in a few seconds it lasted. When we finally pulled away from each other, I could hear the clapping and cheering coming from everyone. I took her hand and walk back down the aisle with her.

When we had gotten out of everyone's view, I stopped and turned back to her. "I know I've said it once already tonight, but, (Y/N) just know you make me so damn happy and I love you more than life itself. This is the beginning of a new chapter for us, and from here on out, I will never want to end this book without you." I said and wipe the street here that had fallen down her cheek. "I love you, (Y/N) Lockwood. Never forget it."

The smile she gave me, spoke a million words without a single one falling from her lips. "I love you too, Tyler. More than you'll ever know." She replied.

I gently placed my hand on her cheek, and (Y/N/N) instantly leaned into closing her eyes. Just before she could open them back up, I leaned in and placed another soft, sweet kiss on her lips.
