Prove It - Kol Mikaelson

Kol could see the exhaustion in her eyes. She was working so much lately in order to get the prom dress of her dreams. (Y/N) had been waiting for this coming Saturday for what seemed like an eternity and the Mikaelson boy knew that. He just hated that she had driven herself mad to make it all seamlessly perfect. (Y/N/N) finally fell asleep after running on purely caffeine for the last three days. She had been talking with Caroline, Elena, and Bonnie about the scheduling for the day of, and from what he gathered everything still wasn't settled on.

So while she was sleeping soundly, the youngest Mikaelson brother went out and got the dress the (Y/E/C) eyed girl had been eyeing for months. Kol knew her whole end goal was this specific gown. She didn't care much about anything else, just the gown. (Y/N) had picked up every extra shift at work that she could manage just to be able to afford it. She had worked so hard for it that he was going to make sure that she had it. The vampire boy also got a few pieces of jewelry to go with it and everything else the (Y/H/C) haired girl would ever wear.

When he returned to the family mansion a few hours later, he found that (Y/N/N) was still fast asleep. So Kol wrapped everything nicely for her to open when she finally woke. He hadn't worried about his dress though she had asked him to go with her. No Mikaelson wasn't a fan of parties and throws many themselves, so he was more than prepared for this occasion.

He walked down to the room the two of them shared when everything was wrapped and slowly open the door, trying to be as quiet as possible so that he wouldn't wake the sleeping princess laying in his bed. Kol placed the boxes that contained everything he had gotten for his girlfriend down on the bench that sat at the foot of their bed. When the Mikaelson boy looked up, he notice how peaceful she looked as she slept. There were no more rapid thoughts going through her head. (Y/N) finally had a few days to take care of herself and that was all he wanted her to do. He had decided when she had told him that her boss wouldn't let her work that he wasn't going to allow her to do anything for the next few days.

He went downstairs after making sure that everything was in her eyesight for when (Y/N/N) woke up and started whipping up her favorite meal for lunch. The boy was almost done with the food when he heard (Y/N) make her way into the kitchen with him.

"Good afternoon, love. Did you sleep well?" Kol asked as he finished up their lunch.

The young girl nodded. "Indeed, but it would have been so much better if my bladder wouldn't have woken me." (Y/N) confessed and sat down at the island.

Her boyfriend let out a slight chuckle and said, "I could imagine." It was comfortably silent between the two as the Mikaelson boy plated their food.

Once he had placed her plate in front of her, (Y/N/N) looked up at him. "I saw what you did." She said and smiled at him. "I told you not to."

"Well, my love, I did hold out as long as I possibly could but I knew you were working so hard to get it. You've exhausted yourself, so much so that it's been three days since you had slept properly. I just wanted you to know that your hard work hadn't gone unseen but also you don't have to work your human heart to death to get whatever it is that you desire. It's one of the reasons you have me. Don't work your whole life away. It's not worth it. I promise." Kol said kissing the top of her head then walked around to sit in the chair beside her.

(Y/N) smiled once more and said, "I know but I want to be able to prove to myself that I can do the work for what I want in life and not always depend on you."

The Mikaelson boy smiled at her and took her face into his hands. "My darling, you prove it to me and yourself every single day. You are one of the hardest-working people I have ever known. No matter what you put your beautiful head to, you do it with absolute perfection. You don't have to try to prove anything more than you already do without trying. Just enjoy your life."

"You always know just what to say, don't you?" The (Y/H/C) haired girl questioned.

Kol just gave her a playful shrugged and said, "It's a gift." The couple let out a joyful laugh together. The boy then leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on his girlfriend's lips. "Eat up, love. You are being spoiled today."
