I had stayed the night over at the Lockwood home last night after helping Mrs. Carol with some last-minute details for the Miss Mystic Falls and the Founders day Ball that's being held this week. This was not an uncommon occurrence for me to do. Since middle school, I have enjoyed helping Mrs. Lockwood out in preparing for Founders week and she appreciated the help. The Lockwoods always had an extra room set up for me to use for times like these.

So after a long day yesterday and some of the b best sleep in my life, I walked downstairs to join Mrs. Carol at the dining table. "Good morning, (Y/N/N)." She said as she noticed me coming down.

"Good morning, Mrs. Carol." I greeted back to her. "Is there anything else that's needing to be done today?"

Tyler's room shook her head. "Oh no, sweetheart. Everything for this evening is all set. I was just making sure all contestants for the pageant have filled out all the necessary forms before tomorrow." She said as she looked at the scattered papers before her on the table. "You ready to pass the baton this year?"

"I don't know. I might just compete again." The two of us laughed knowing that my 2-year run was up. "Honestly, I couldn't be more ready."

"She's ready to finally be a judge instead of being the one who's judged." Said the voice of a still quite tired Tyler Lockwood coming down the stairs. "Not that I blame her." He smiled as he came up from behind and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"But you have to admit, Ty, nobody has ever looked better in that crown than me. I say with a playful smile.

The Lockwood boy smiled back at me. "If you ever hear me say otherwise, kill me where I stand. please. I beg you." Tyler stated and kissed my cheek.

His mother smiled at the two of us before looking down at the papers Ince again. "(Y/N)? Did you know your cousin sign up to be on the committee?"

"That sounds like a Stefan thing to do, considering he missed the contest when Elena was competing. I'm guessing he wants to make up for it somehow." I stated as Tyler let go of me to pull out a chair at the table for me to take a seat.

"Not Stefan. The other brother." Mrs. Lockwood said.

"Damon?" Tyler questioned.

I raised my eyebrows for a quick second as I sat down in the chair that my boyfriend had pulled out for me. "In that case, no but it wouldn't surprise me much either. He's always been very hands-on in community events that charm his interest. That and he's a very protective older cousin." I said as Tyler took his place in the chair right next to mine. "But either wait doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Damon's really good at seeing the details in this particular kind of thing. How do you think I won two years in a row? Luck? No. I had the best coach out there. But that's just me being biased."I let out a small laugh and took a sip of the apple juice their butler Benji placed in front of me while the Lockwoods chuckled themselves.

"Maybe, I could ask them to be a judge. Think he would mind?" Mrs. Lockwood questioned as she pulled out her phone. "Mr. Cline pulled out last minute since his daughter just had her baby."

I gave her a small smile. "I think he wouldn't mind at all. In our family, we tend to say two Salvatores are better than one."

Tyler laughed softly. "Just be careful which two you put together on certain occasions."

Nodding in agreement with my boyfriend, I stated, "That is very true."

"Great!" Tyler's mom stood from her seat and started dialing away at her phone. "I'll go ahead and give him a call." She said as she disappeared into the other room.

"You're uncle is going to kill you for saying that." Tyler whispered before taking a sip of his coffee that Benji no doubtfully slipped something stronger into for the boy.

Shaking my head, I said, "If I know Uncle Damon the way I think I do then he'll have no problem helping out. It's his weakness. Well, I am. To both of my uncles. When I ask for something, they do it. I don't why but I try not to abuse that power a whole lot or they'll catch on that I know."

"You're the only family they have left, (Y/N/N) and the youngest. They'd do anything to keep you happy." Tyler said. "They weren't there to save you the first time but they will be there to save you all the rest of them."

"True but keep in mind, Ty, they killed a handful of them themselves."

The Lockwood boy raised his eyebrows slightly and went to say something but before he could his mother walked back into the room. "(Y/N), like always, you were right. Damon was more than happy to do it."

I smiled at her as she sat back down at the table with us and Benji served up breakfast. "That's great! Now we aren't down a judge."

"I bet you that once she told him she had already gotten your opinion, he was sold." Tyler said as he began to chow down.

"There's nothing to bet against because that's exactly what happened." Mrs. Lockwood said and we all laughed. "What (Y/N) wants, she gets with that boy."

"Not always. But I will take it when I can get it." I joked making everyone laugh once more.

Once breakfast was eaten, I said goodbye to the Lockwoods and headed home to get ready for the pageant. As soon as I walked through the door, I was standing face-to-face with my dear uncle. "You volunteered me to be a judge?"

"I didn't volunteer you. Carol asked if you would mind. I told her I didn't think you would and so here we are." I state as I put some of my things down on the nearby table.

"Well, I'm flatter either way."

I smiled at him and then started my way up the stairs. "Well, then you better get ready. The pageant starts in two hours and judges are needed to be there an hour early."
