Tobias POV
"I'm not usually like this, I'm sorry.""Oh yes you are."
" I could be fun, if you want. I could be pensive, uhh... smart, supersticious, brave? And I, uhh, I can be light on my feet. I could be whatever you want. You just tell me what you want, and I'm gonna be that for you."
" ...You're dumb."
" I could be that."
"Come on, one date, what's it gonna hurt?"
" Mmm, I don't think so."
" Well what can I do to change your mind?"
It's Tuesday night, Tris and I are in our pajamas and snuggled up in bed, watching the notebook.
It's one of Tris's favorites and she begged me to watch it with her tonight. I've seen it, and though its good.. it's still a chick flick. But I like that it brings us together, the love story connecting us.
"Why didn't you write me? Why? It wasn't over for me, I waited for you for seven years. But now it's too late."
"I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you everyday for a year."
"You wrote me?"
"Yes... it wasn't over, it still isn't over."
We're as close as we can be right now, the covers over our legs and my arms around her, holding her tight. The lights are off and the TV glows up against the wall, loominating the room at points.
Tris has a box of tissues on the bed, ready for whenever she cries. Which in this movie, is almost all the time.
With a movie like this, where it makes Tris happy and let's us have time together. It doesn't really matter what the movies about, it just matters how it affects us. And this one, bonds us closer. Our love growing and our friendship expanding.
Tris scotches closer to me, if it's even possible, and I know more tears are coming soon.
"Do you think our love, can take us away together?"
"I think our love can do anything we want it to."
"I love you. "
"I love you, Allie."
"Good night."
"Good night. I'll be seeing you."
Tris is crying heavily, so I just sit there and hold her. Not knowing the perfect way to comfort her since it's a movie.
When her sniffles get softer, she leans forward and turn to me. Her eyes are glossier now, the tears making them sparkle more than they normally do.
"You okay?" I ask her. She nods, and starts to fiddle with the silver dog tags hanging from my neck, against my bare chest.
"Do you think that our love could ever be like that?" She asks and her eyes shift so they look up into mine. I can't help but smile down at her.
"What?" She asks wondering what my happiness is all about. "Honey," I say with a light chuckle.
"Our loves already like that." I say and scotch down, so that our bodies are side by side under the covers. We're facing each other though.
"What do you mean?" She asks confused.
"Okay, maybe something's aren't the same. Like you leaving, and the fact that we don't really have 'classes' anymore." I tell her and I can tell she's understanding.
"But their love is everlasting. It shows how tightly their love is wound." I say, and brush her cheek with the tip of my thumb.
"They face so many things, things that should break them up. Things that should destroy or loosen that love."
"But it doesn't." I say and she smiles softly.
"That's like our love. Nothing can break us apart, and even if it tries, our loves to strong to break." I say and she leans in to kiss me.
A soft, passionate kiss. No pressure, no heaviness to it. All love, all purely love.
She leans back. "And I plan on dying old with you." I say to Tris. She smiles wider.
"I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad; Carry you around when your arthritis is bad; All I wanna do is grow old with you." Tris sings softly and this makes me chuckle.
The movies reference makes me smile, how she remembered that it's one of my favorite movies.
"I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches; build you a fire if the furnace breaks; Oh it could be so nice, growin old with you." I sing this time.
"I'll miss you, kiss you, give you my coat when you are cold. Need you, feed you, I'll even let you hold the remote control. So let me do the dishes in the kitchen sink; Put you to bed when you've had too much to drink. Oh I could be the man to grow old with you. I wanna grow old with you."
We sing the rest of together, not taking our eyes off each other. (Song in the video above)
"What if we started our own notebook? "I suggest. "What?" Tris asks scrunching her face a bit, with confusion.
"He wrote down their love story, and read it to her in the end. Having their love on paper, for whenever they need a reminder of how much they loved each other." I say.
"What if we did that." I explain.
"That's actually really sweet." She says and blushes.
"Alright." I say and Tris snuggles into my side. The credits are down and the rooms silent and dark now. I look down and see Tris almost asleep.
"Chapter one." I whisper and pull a strand of hair out of her face, and tuck it behind her ear.
"They met in school one day. Two very unlikely people to fall in love, two people with opposite lives and ways." I continues.
"But they do say that opposites attract. She showed off her strength in front of him. Showing that she was stronger than she looked, and she really was." I whisper.
"He was shocked, but pleasantly surprised on the inside. He saved her later that day, saved her from something that could have scared her forever." I say remembering that day.
"He held her close, not caring who saw and who thought what. Just wanting to comfort her, in anyway that he could." I say and kiss the top of Tris's head.
"I love you Tris." I say and sleep takes over me.
