Nabi woke up to the annoying vibration under her pillow.
"Just five more minutes…"
She covered herself up to her nose with the fleecy blanket. The warmth and coziness wrapped around her like a comforting hug, making it almost impossible to leave the sanctuary of her bed.

But before she could drift back into sleep, her alarm clock rang again, the second alarm she had set to go off every five minutes. She knew that if she didn't get up now, she would miss school, even though part of her didn't care.

As soon as she thought of school, her mood darkened. It was a place of torment and fear, a place where she felt utterly alone.
Still, she forced herself to remember her parents. They would want her to graduate, to achieve something before pursuing whatever she wanted in life. They would want her to be happy and fulfilled.

With a sigh, she threw off the blanket and got out of bed. She put on the new bunny scarf she'd seen in the store for so long and finally bought. She thought it was adorable the first time she saw it. The cute bunnies on the scarf made her heart melt. Honestly, she had a weakness for sweet things. Now that she had a job, she could afford little luxuries, even if it was a bit expensive. It was worth it because she rarely treated herself to anything.
She was constantly saving for hospital bills, so she could hardly afford anything for herself.

Before she left the apartment, she noticed the rain pouring down outside. She grabbed her umbrella. Normally, she would just go without it, enjoying the feeling of the rain on her skin, but she knew she had to be careful with her health. No one knew how much a simple cold could impact her frail body.

When she arrived at school, she changed her shoes at the locker and put her umbrella inside. She braced herself for the day ahead.

"Three…" Nabi mumbled to herself as she walked down the corridor.

"Two… One…"
She caught sight of the boys from her class and took a deep breath.

"Now…"

As if on cue, the next moment she was lying on the floor, her books scattered around her. Laughter echoed through the hallway and classroom. Nabi knew this was coming; she had memorized the steps to her classroom, knowing exactly when they would trip her. It was a routine humiliation, and this was just the beginning.

"Can I help you?"

Nabi looked up into the face of a girl from her class.
The girl picked up a book, stood up in front of her, and then dropped it on her head. "Do you really think anyone would want to get close to you?"

The students laughed and mocked her as she slowly gathered her books without meeting their eyes. She walked to her seat in the last row by the window, feeling the weight of their ridicule with every step.
