The dynamics between the three of them were harmonious, almost as if they had always interacted this way. Sunoo, sitting behind Nabi on the couch, seemed to fully embrace his role as a supporter. He occasionally gave tips and encouraged her while also teasing Jungwon.
Nabi finally managed to beat Jungwon in a close race, celebrating her victory with a triumphant cheer. Sunoo clapped enthusiastically and praised her for her win.
"I've never even managed to beat him once."
He leaned forward slightly to get a better view of her face.
"You did very well. That was great."
He patted her, bringing a huge smile to her lips."See, I told you she'd be good!" he laughed with audible pride in his voice to Jungwon.
"Yeah, yeah," Jungwon replied, but his smile showed that he took it well.
"Pff, that was just luck," he then teased.
As it got later, they decided to end the game. Sunoo helped Nabi to let her hair down again before she left for home, but the boy paused when he noticed her slightly flushed cheeks. His fingers lingered in her hair, and he looked at her questioningly for a moment.
"Is everything okay?"
She nodded quickly and smiled, somewhat embarrassed under his gaze.
"Yes, all good. It's just a bit warm in here."
She tried to play off her embarrassment, but it was evident that Sunoo's closeness had slightly unsettled her.Sunoo released her hair, which now fell open over her shoulders, and stepped back to give her some space.
"It was really nice having you here."Jungwon watched the scene from a distance and felt a certain tension in the air. It was clear that there was a special connection between Sunoo and Nabi, something that seemed to go beyond mere friendship. He felt simultaneously happy for his friend and a little melancholic.
Denying that there was more than friendship would be fooling themselves."Thank you both for the great evening," she purred with a beaming smile. "It was really fun."
"Wait for me!" Sunoo followed her as she was about to leave the apartment. He glanced at Jungwon, who nodded with a smile.
"See you tomorrow."
Then he stood in a moment full of silence in his apartment. The stillness was filled with unspoken thoughts and emotions he needed to process. His fingers toyed with the bracelet he had received from the girl. It was the only thing that gave him some warmth.
He felt very flattered to have received anything from her.
That she thought of him.
Sunoo watched Nabi as she unlocked her door. She turned around, folding her hands in front of her body.
