In the cooling dusk, the girl shivered softly on Sunoo's back, a tender sign of her shock and the cold air touching her skin. This icy breath was a life-affirming sign that she was still breathing, still feeling.
The pink-haired boy gasped for breath as he stumbled through the automatically opening door into the hospital.
His eyes darted around in panic, in a desperate attempt to find his bearings in this labyrinth of a plain building. This place, soaked with memories, was not unfamiliar to him; It was the same scenario as when he had first carried Nabi here.
Just as piggybacked as now."S-Sunoo..?"
The girl whispered so softly that it was little more than a breath lost in the sterile air of the hospital.
"I'm feeling cold.."
Sunoo felt her arms go limp, hanging heavily over his shoulder.
"I'm cold.."
The girl struggled, her eyelids were like lead, heavy and unrelenting in their urge to close.
Sunoo knew that.
He knew she was fighting the darkness that threatened to engulf her."Nabi, please don't close your eyes now." He begged softly, his voice tinged with worry.
That was why he had returned to this place that instilled so much fear in him, this place of horror.
He looked for help for the girl on his back.
"Please, help her!"
His voice, a desperate cry, broke the silence of the hospital.
The doctor who received them recognized them immediately - The girl and the boy.
He led him into a sterile, white room, where Sunoo carefully laid Nabi on the bed.Nurses and doctors rushed in, working on monitors, administering injections, checking her vital signs.
For Sunoo, it seemed like a scene from a movie in which the main character fights against the inevitable.
It may sound strange, but that's how it felt to him.He was torn from his thoughts when an orderly asked him to wait outside.
Sunoo resisted with slight force as he tiptoed to see what was happening to the girl.
But the nurse gently pushed him out of the room.Sunoo held on to the sports jacket that Nabi had been wearing earlier, hoping that it had done her some good.
He didn't want her to go out in public in just a swimsuit, so he had put his jacket on her, also to protect her from the cold.
