As Sunoo walked through the bustling school hallway, his usual confident demeanor was interrupted when Suho, one of the more notorious troublemakers in their class, called out to him.
"Yo, Sunoo!" Suho's voice carried over the noise, drawing the attention of a few nearby students. He sauntered over with his usual arrogant smirk, flanked by a couple of his friends. "Where’s Nabi? Haven’t seen her around lately."
Sunoo’s jaw tightened instantly, his grip on his backpack strap firm as he stopped walking. He turned to face Suho, his eyes narrowing. "Why do you care?" he asked flatly, his voice cold.
Suho chuckled, clearly enjoying the reaction he was getting. "Just curious," he said, shrugging casually. "She’s cute, you know? Always has been. I mean, it’s not like you’re keeping her all to yourself, right?"
The comment made Sunoo’s blood boil, but he forced himself to stay calm. "Stay out of her business," he said sharply, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Suho raised an eyebrow, his smirk widening. "What’s with the attitude? I’m just saying—she’s sweet. Always fun to mess with." His words were casual, but the underlying malice was clear.
Sunoo stepped closer, his usually playful expression gone, replaced by something far more serious. "Listen to me," he said, his voice low but firm. "You don’t talk about Nabi like that. Ever. Got it?"
The tension between them was thick, and Suho’s smirk faltered slightly as he took in the intensity of Sunoo’s glare. "Relax, man," he said, holding up his hands in mock surrender. "I didn’t mean anything by it."
"Yeah, you did," Sunoo snapped, his fists clenched. "And I’m telling you, if you ever mess with her again, you’ll regret it."
A few students nearby had stopped to watch, whispering among themselves as the confrontation unfolded. Suho glanced around, his smirk returning as he tried to regain the upper hand. "Alright, alright," he said, stepping back slightly. "I’ll leave your little girlfriend alone. For now."
Sunoo’s eyes didn’t leave Suho as he walked away, his friends snickering behind him. Even after they disappeared into the crowd, Sunoo’s anger lingered, his chest tight with frustration.
One of his own friends approached cautiously, placing a hand on his shoulder. "You good, Sunoo?" they asked, concern evident in their voice.
Sunoo let out a sharp breath, his jaw still tense. "I’m fine," he muttered, though his mind was racing. Suho’s words replayed in his head, and all he could think about was keeping Nabi safe—especially when she wasn’t there to defend herself.
"People like him don’t get to talk about her like that," Sunoo said quietly, more to himself than to his friend. His fists clenched again, his resolve hardening. "I won’t let anyone hurt her. Not ever."
